Octadecylamine polyoxyethylene ether AC-1815 is a high HLB value (14-15) nonionic surfactant. When using, select the appropriate addition amount and method according to the specific application field and target system. The recommended dosage is usually 0.5%~10% of the total system weight. It can be used by direct addition method, pre-dissolution method or blending method.

Detailed Description

Octadecylamine polyoxyethylene ether AC-1815 appears as a light yellow waxy solid or paste at room temperature (melting point 30~40°C), easily soluble in water and organic solvents, with good chemical compatibility. Its unique molecular structure contains both tertiary amine groups and polyoxyethylene (15EO) chains. It exhibits nonionic characteristics under neutral or alkaline conditions, while protonating to show cationic properties under acidic conditions. This characteristic switch gives it flexible adaptability in various industrial formulations. The product has an effective content ≥99%, low foam, cloud point ≥90°C (1% aqueous solution), and can withstand high-temperature processing.

Since the product is a paste or waxy solid at room temperature, it is recommended to preheat the product in a water bath to 40~50°C before use to soften or melt it for easy handling and dispersion. When preparing an aqueous solution, slowly add the melted AC-1815 to hot water at 40~60°C under stirring, continue stirring until completely dissolved, forming a transparent to slightly opalescent uniform solution. For oil-based systems or formulations containing organic solvents, the product can be directly added to the oil phase or solvent and mixed for dissolution. When applied in acidic systems, pre-adjust the system pH to weakly acidic (pH 4~6) with acetic acid or citric acid to fully protonate AC-1815, thereby exerting its cationic properties for adsorption, softening and antistatic functions.

Guoli Chemical provides this product in packaging specifications of 50kg plastic drums, 200kg plastic drums and IBC totes. It is recommended to store sealed in a cool, dry and ventilated place (temperature below 40°C), away from fire sources and strong oxidizers, with a shelf life of 12 months. Personal protection should be worn during operation, including protective gloves and goggles, and use in a well-ventilated area to avoid direct contact with skin and eyes.

Application Recommendations

1. Textile Dyeing Leveling Agent (recommended dosage: 0.5~2 g/L under dye bath ratio conditions)
Pre-dissolve AC-1815 in hot water and then add to the dye bath, adding simultaneously with the dye or in advance. Its retarding and leveling properties can effectively reduce color spots and color difference, suitable for acid dyes, reactive dyes and cationic dye dyeing processes. In acidic dye baths, AC-1815 exhibits cationic properties, providing stronger affinity and leveling effects on fibers such as acrylic.

2. Synthetic Fiber Antistatic Agent/Finish Oil (recommended dosage: 5%~15% of the total finish oil formulation)
As a key component of spinning finish oils for polyester, acrylic and nylon fibers, it can be blended with smoothing agents and bundling agents. Its moisture absorption and wicking properties and ionic characteristics can significantly reduce the surface resistance of fibers, eliminate static buildup, and reduce wrapping and breakage.

3. Metalworking Fluid Emulsifying Rust Inhibitor (recommended dosage: 3%~10% of the total concentrate)
Used as a primary or auxiliary emulsifier in formulations of emulsified oils and semi-synthetic cutting fluids. When blended with anionic emulsifiers such as sulfonates and carboxylates, it produces synergistic effects. After protonation under acidic conditions, it can form a protective film on metal surfaces, providing good rust and corrosion protection for steel, iron, copper, aluminum and other non-ferrous metals.

4. Pesticide Emulsifier (recommended dosage: 5%~15% of the total EC/ME formulation)
It has good emulsification and dispersion ability for active ingredients such as organophosphates and pyrethroids. It can be used in combination with nonionic and anionic emulsifiers to prepare pesticide formulations with excellent dilution stability.

5. Daily Chemical Thickening and Softening Agent (recommended dosage: 0.5%~3% of the total formulation)
In products such as shampoos, body washes, and conditioners, it can be added at the later stage of formulation at 40~50°C. Its cationic properties impart good antistatic and softening effects to hair, while also assisting in thickening and stabilizing emulsions.

6. Paint and Ink Dispersant (recommended dosage: 1%~5% based on pigment weight)
Can be added during the grinding stage to adsorb onto pigment particles, preventing flocculation and re-agglomeration, improving the tinting strength, gloss and storage stability of the system. Applicable to water-based and solvent-based systems.

Precautions

  • Operational Protection: This product is irritating to skin and eyes (H315/H319) and may cause respiratory irritation (H335). Wear protective gloves and goggles during operation, and ensure good ventilation.
  • Dissolution Method: It is recommended to pre-melt with warm water at 40~50°C first, then add to hot water at 40~60°C under stirring. Avoid direct addition to cold water to prevent clumping and prolonged dissolution time.
  • pH Adjustment: If utilizing its cationic properties (e.g., antistatic, adsorption, softening), adjust the system pH to weakly acidic (pH 4~6) to fully protonate the amine group.
