G-18 Glycereth-18 is a highly hydrophilic nonionic surfactant, with INCI name Glycereth-18. Its core uses are as an O/W emulsifier, solubilizer, and moisturizing auxiliary, widely serving in personal care, textiles, metalworking, coatings, industrial cleaning, and polyurethane foam fields.
Detailed Description
G-18 Glycereth-18 (Polyoxyethylated Glycerol, CAS No.: 31694-55-0) has a molecular structure consisting of a glycerol backbone with about 18 polyoxyethylene chain segments. It appears as a colorless to light yellow transparent liquid, easily soluble in water, with an HLB value of 18. This structure gives it the moisturizing affinity of the glycerol group combined with the high hydrophilicity and solubilizing ability of the polyoxyethylene chain, making it a mild nonionic surfactant with excellent chemical stability.
Due to its high HLB value and excellent emulsifying and solubilizing performance, it can quickly reduce interfacial tension in aqueous systems, providing outstanding emulsification and solubilization effects for various oils, fragrances, and active ingredients, and significantly improving the wetting and dispersion efficiency of powders and pigments in liquid media. Meanwhile, the product maintains stable performance in the pH range of 3~12 and hard water environments, offering broad formulation applicability.
This product is manufactured by Haian Guoli Chemical Co., Ltd. (Guoli Chemical), and also possesses certain moisturizing properties. It is a mild, low-irritation glyceryl ether surfactant, particularly favored in personal care products.

Application Suggestions
G-18 Glycereth-18 has highly diverse application scenarios. It is recommended to choose the appropriate dosage based on the system target:
- Cosmetics and Personal Care: As an O/W emulsifier and fragrance solubilizer, suitable for creams, lotions, facial cleansers, makeup removers, and moisturizing toners. Typical dosage is 0.5%~5%, which can improve product stability and mild skin feel.
- Textile Industry: Used as an antistatic agent and softening finishing agent. It can be applied to fibers or fabrics via impregnation or padding processes to impart a smooth hand feel and antistatic effect.
- Metalworking Fluids: Possesses both lubricating and anti-rust properties. Recommended for use in cutting fluids, grinding fluids, and anti-rust fluid formulations to help improve machining accuracy and workpiece surface quality.
- Coatings and Inks: As a highly effective wetting and dispersing agent, it promotes uniform dispersion of pigments and fillers, preventing flocculation and sedimentation. Recommended addition amount is 1%~5% of pigment weight.
- Industrial Cleaners: Utilizes its excellent wetting and penetrating ability to enhance detergency, suitable for hard surface cleaning and industrial degreasing formulations.
- Polyurethane Foam: As a foam stabilizer component, it effectively controls cell structure and improves foam fineness and dimensional stability.
Precautions
- Irritation: The product is classified under GHS as Skin Irritation Category 2 (H315) and Serious Eye Irritation Category 2A (H319). Protective gloves and goggles must be worn during operation, avoiding contact with skin and eyes.
- Storage Conditions: Should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place at 5~30°C, keep container tightly closed, away from heat sources and strong oxidizers.
- First Aid Measures: In case of accidental eye contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention; for skin contact, wash thoroughly with soap and water.
- Environmental Disposal: Waste and empty containers should be disposed of as hazardous waste according to local regulations, do not discharge into water bodies or soil.
