Polyether L-45 is a multifunctional nonionic surfactant, with excellent emulsifying ability, outstanding wetting and dispersing properties, acid/alkali resistance, hard water tolerance, and low foam characteristics as its core advantages, widely used in industrial cleaning, metalworking, textiles, pesticides, and defoamers.

Detailed Description

Polyether L-45 (CAS No.: 9003-11-6) belongs to the Poloxamer class of nonionic surfactants, appearing as a colorless to slightly yellow transparent liquid. Its molecular structure contains both hydrophilic polyoxyethylene (EO) segments and hydrophobic polyoxypropylene (PO) segments. This unique block copolymer structure endows the product with excellent interfacial activity and broad application adaptability.

As a nonionic surfactant, Polyether L-45 does not ionize in water, thus possessing excellent chemical stability—it maintains activity in acid, alkali, and electrolyte systems, with particularly outstanding hard water resistance. Even under high calcium and magnesium ion concentration water conditions, it does not fail due to precipitation. At the same time, this product is a low-foam surfactant, especially suitable for working conditions with strict foam control requirements such as high-pressure spray cleaning and high-speed cutting processing, significantly reducing the use of defoamers and lowering overall costs.

In terms of safety, Polyether L-45 is a low-toxicity chemical, but according to GHS classification, attention should still be paid to its irritation to eyes, skin, and respiratory tract (H315\/H319\/H335). Protective gloves and goggles should be worn during operation, and it should be used in a well-ventilated environment.

Application Recommendations

Industrial Cleaners: As an efficient low-foam wetting agent, it can quickly penetrate and emulsify heavy oil stains, especially suitable for spray cleaning processes of metals and hard surfaces, significantly improving cleanliness and reducing rinse water usage.

Dish Drying Agents: By significantly reducing the surface tension of rinse water, it promotes uniform spreading of the water film and rapid detachment from dish surfaces, achieving instant drying without water spots or streaks.

Metalworking Fluids: Combines lubrication and cooling auxiliary functions. Excellent foam suppression prevents foam overflow during high-pressure spraying and high-speed cutting, ensuring processing stability.

Textile Scouring Agents and Bleaching Aids: With outstanding penetration and dispersion capabilities, it efficiently removes cotton wax impurities during desizing, scouring, and bleaching processes, suspending dirt to prevent re-deposition.

Pesticide Emulsifiers: Enables oily pesticide active ingredients to disperse automatically in water into stable emulsions with uniform droplet size, resistant to stratification, ensuring effective field application.

Defoamers: Its very low foaming tendency can synergize with silicone or mineral oil for foam control, commonly used as a base carrier or synergistic component in industrial defoamer formulations.

Precautions

  • Eye Protection: The product can cause serious eye irritation (H319). Approved chemical safety goggles (conforming to EN 166) must be worn during operation.
  • Skin Protection: Can cause skin irritation (H315). Butyl rubber or nitrile rubber protective gloves should be worn, and hands must be washed thoroughly after handling.
  • Respiratory Protection: May cause respiratory tract irritation (H335). Use only in well-ventilated areas or with local exhaust ventilation to avoid inhaling vapors or mists.
  • Storage: Keep containers tightly closed. Store in a cool, dry, ventilated area at 5–35°C, away from heat sources and strong oxidizers. Prevent freezing and electrostatic accumulation.
  • Emergency: In case of contact with eyes or skin, rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. If irritation persists, seek medical attention promptly.
