This product is not classified as a hazardous chemical and will not undergo violent chemical reactions or release harmful substances under normal storage conditions.
The storage environment should preferably be a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse area. High humidity environments may cause the product to slowly absorb moisture. Although Span S-85 itself is highly hydrophobic, prolonged exposure to moist air may still affect its emulsifying properties. Additionally, the warehouse should be kept away from heat sources, sparks, and open flames to avoid product quality deterioration caused by extreme high temperatures, and also to avoid abnormally high viscosity due to extreme low temperatures, which may affect subsequent use and processing.
Sealed packaging is another key factor—the container must be tightly closed immediately after each use to reduce contact with air and impurities. It is recommended to always store the product in its original container or a container made of confirmed compatible materials, and keep the label clear and intact for batch traceability and safety identification. At the same time, it should be strictly stored separately from food, beverages, and animal feed to prevent misuse.

In practical use, if Span S-85 exhibits significantly increased viscosity or even partial solidification due to low-temperature storage, this is a normal physical change and not product deterioration. Before use, the sealed container can be placed at room temperature for natural warming. If necessary, a warm water bath (not exceeding 40°C) can be used to assist softening, but direct heating with open flames or high-temperature steam is strictly prohibited. After warming, gently shake to restore the uniform amber viscous oily liquid state, without affecting emulsification and dispersion properties.
