Tween T-20 Cocoa Fatty Acid is a high quality nonionic surfactant, chemically known as polyoxyethylene (20) sorbitan monococoate, CAS number 9005-64-5, widely used as an O/W emulsifier, solubilizer and wetting agent.

Detailed Description

Tween T-20 Cocoa Fatty Acid (also known as Tween 20, Tween 20, Polysorbate 20) is a nonionic surfactant produced by Haian Guoli Chemical Co., Ltd., belonging to the polyoxyethylene sorbitan fatty acid ester compound. The product appears as a light yellow to amber viscous liquid. Due to its unique molecular structure—combining hydrophilic polyoxyethylene chains and lipophilic cocoa fatty acid ester groups—it exhibits excellent adsorption and oriented arrangement ability at the oil-water interface.

As a classic O/W (oil-in-water) emulsifier, Tween T-20 Cocoa Fatty Acid has a high HLB value (approximately 16.7), strong hydrophilicity, can significantly reduce oil-water interfacial tension, quickly form a stable and fine emulsion system, effectively preventing demulsification and stratification. At the same time, it has strong solubilizing and carrying capacity for lipophilic substances, can uniformly disperse poorly soluble active ingredients in aqueous systems, and exhibits excellent chemical stability in acid, alkali and hard water media.

This product has high safety, is a low-toxicity or practically non-toxic substance, non-irritating to skin, with no teratogenic or mutagenic risks, conforms to INS 432/E432 food additive standards, so it is also applicable in fields with strict safety requirements such as food, medicine, and cosmetics.

Application Recommendations

Tween T-20 Cocoa Fatty Acid has extremely wide application fields, covering the following six major industries:

  • Cosmetics and Personal Care Products: Used as a basic emulsifier and efficient solubilizer in creams, lotions, cleansing oils and shampoos, imparting a refreshing, non-greasy skin feel to the product.
  • Pharmaceutical Preparations: Used as a solubilizing carrier and emulsifier in oral liquids, injections and topical ointments, enhancing the bioavailability of lipophilic drugs.
  • Food Industry: Complies with INS 432/E432 standards, used in bakery fats, dairy beverages and seasoning sauces, improving mixing uniformity and taste, delaying starch aging.
  • Textile and Fiber: Used as an antistatic agent and softening agent, eliminating static accumulation during fiber processing, imparting a smooth and fluffy feel to fabrics.
  • Pesticide Formulations: Used as a green pesticide emulsifier and tank mix adjuvant, enhancing wetting, spreading and penetration of the spray liquid on plant leaves, improving efficacy and rainfastness.
  • Industrial Cleaning and Metalworking: Acts as an emulsifier, wetting agent and rust inhibitor in detergents, cutting fluids and lubricants, improving detergency and machining finish.

Precautions

  • It is recommended to wear protective gloves and safety glasses during operation, avoid prolonged skin contact and accidental splash into eyes.
  • In case of accidental eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, do not apply eye ointment before flushing.
  • The product should be stored sealed in a cool, dry, ventilated place (5°C~35°C), away from strong oxidizers, strong acids, and strong bases.
  • After opening, reseal as soon as possible to prevent moisture absorption and contamination.
  • Spills can cause slipping hazards, clean up immediately.
  • Disposal must comply with local regulations, do not discharge into drains or water bodies.
