Dodecyl Amine Polyoxyethylene Ether AC-1215 is a nonionic surfactant synthesized by the addition polymerization of fatty amine and ethylene oxide, possessing both amine functional groups and polyoxyethylene ether chains, exhibiting cationic characteristics in acidic media.

Detailed Description

Dodecyl Amine Polyoxyethylene Ether AC-1215 (also known as: Lauryl Amine Polyoxyethylene Ether (15), PEG-15 Lauryl Amine) is a multifunctional nonionic surfactant. Its molecular structure contains both amine functional groups and polyoxyethylene ether chains, which imparts unique interfacial activity to the product - it displays nonionic properties under normal conditions, while after protonation of the amine group in acidic media, it can exhibit the behavior of a cationic surfactant, providing a very flexible range of applications.

This product has excellent emulsifying ability, effectively reducing oil/water interfacial tension to form stable emulsions; at the same time, it possesses outstanding wetting, penetrating, and dispersing properties, promoting liquid spreading on solid surfaces and preventing flocculation and sedimentation of solid particles. Additionally, it features resistance to hard water, acids, and alkalis, maintaining stable performance over a wide pH range, and is compatible with various additive systems.

At room temperature, the product appears as a colorless to light yellow transparent liquid with a chemical formula of C12H25N(CH2CH2O)nH (where n is the number of ethylene oxide adducts, approximately 15), CAS number 26635-75-6, and good solubility, being soluble in water and dispersible in various organic solvents.

Application Recommendations

This product is widely applicable in the following fields:

  • Textile Dyeing and Finishing: Used as a leveling agent and antistatic agent to improve dyeing uniformity, reduce color differences and flowers, and lower fiber surface resistance to avoid static accumulation during processing.
  • Agricultural Chemicals: Serves as an emulsifying dispersant for pesticide emulsifiable concentrates and emulsions in water, improving formulation stability and efficacy.
  • Industrial Cleaning: Acts as a solubilizer and wetting agent in cleaning formulations for hard surfaces such as metal, glass, and ceramics, compatible with both acidic and alkaline systems.
  • Personal Care: Applied in products such as shampoos and conditioners to provide antistatic and conditioning effects, improving the feel of hair and skin.
  • Metalworking Fluids: Possesses both emulsifying and anti-rust functions, suitable for formulations of cutting fluids, grinding fluids, and anti-rust fluids.
  • Acidic System Solubilization: Used as a solubilizing aid in acidic cleaning or pickling media to prevent layering and precipitation.

Precautions

This product falls under GHS classification as Skin Irritant Category 2 (H315: Causes skin irritation) and Serious Eye Damage/Eye Irritation Category 2 (H319: Causes serious eye irritation), and is also harmful to aquatic life (H412). Protective gloves, goggles, and face protection must be worn during handling, and hands and face should be thoroughly washed after operation. In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. If eye irritation persists, seek medical attention immediately. The product should be stored in a cool, ventilated area (recommended 5-35°C), away from strong oxidizers and strong acids. Use strictly according to chemical safety instructions. Do not use in food, pharmaceuticals, or personal care product formulations.
