Dodecylamine polyoxyethylene ether AC-1215 is a special surfactant with dual nonionic and cationic characteristics, with excellent emulsifying, wetting, dispersing, and acid/alkali resistance as its core competitiveness.
Detailed Description
Dodecylamine polyoxyethylene ether AC-1215 (CAS No.: 26635-75-6) is a nonionic surfactant obtained by addition polymerization of fatty amine (dodecylamine/laurylamine) with 15 moles of ethylene oxide (EO). Its molecular structure contains both amine functional groups and polyoxyethylene ether segments, and this unique "amphiphilic" structure gives the product excellent interfacial activity. Appearance: colorless to light yellow transparent liquid (above 25°C), may be paste or solid at low temperatures.
The most prominent feature of this product is its "nonionic-cationic" dual nature: in neutral or alkaline media, it behaves as a typical nonionic surfactant; while in acidic media, the amine group is protonated, and the product transforms into a cationic surfactant. This characteristic greatly expands its application scenarios and formulation flexibility. At the same time, the product is resistant to hard water, acids, and alkalis, maintaining stable performance over a wide pH range.
From a safety perspective, this product is a low acute toxicity substance (oral LD50 >2000 mg/kg), but it is irritating to skin and eyes (GHS classification: skin irritation category 2, eye irritation category 2), and is harmful to aquatic life with long-lasting effects (H412). Protective gloves and goggles should be worn during operation, and release into the environment should be avoided.

Application Recommendations
Based on the core performance of AC-1215, Guoli Chemical recommends the following six major application directions:
- Textile and Dyeing Field: Used as a leveling agent and antistatic agent, it can improve dyeing uniformity, reduce color difference and defects, while imparting good antistatic properties to fabrics, reducing static electricity problems during processing.
- Agrochemicals: Acts as an emulsifying dispersant in pesticide emulsifiable concentrate and emulsion formulations, effectively reducing oil-water interfacial tension, ensuring uniform distribution of active ingredients after dilution for a long time.
- Industrial Cleaning: Serves as a solubilizer and wetting agent in industrial hard surface cleaning formulations, rapidly penetrating soil layers, and compatible with both acidic and alkaline cleaning systems.
- Daily Chemical and Personal Care: Used in products such as shampoos and conditioners, providing antistatic and conditioning effects, improving hair feel and reducing frizz.
- Metalworking Fluids: In cutting fluids and grinding fluids, it combines emulsifying and anti-rust functions, forming a uniform protective film on metal surfaces.
- Acidic System Solubilization: Serves as a solubilizing aid in acidic cleaning, pickling, and other applications, improving compatibility between components and preventing stratification or precipitation.
Precautions
- The product is irritating to skin and eyes. Chemical safety goggles and chemical-resistant gloves (recommended: nitrile rubber or neoprene gloves) must be worn during operation.
- Harmful to aquatic life with long-lasting effects. Do not discharge the product or wastewater containing the product directly into water bodies.
- Avoid storage with strong oxidizers (peroxides, perchlorates, nitric acid, etc.) and strong acids.
- Storage containers are recommended to be made of stainless steel, polyethylene, or lined carbon steel. Avoid using reactive metal containers such as copper or aluminum.
- The product is hygroscopic. After opening, seal promptly to prevent moisture ingress.
