Stearylamine Polyoxyethylene Ether AC-1802 requires determining dosage and process based on target application scenarios; the core is to heat and melt or pre-dissolve in hot water/organic solvent before use.

Detailed Description

Stearylamine Polyoxyethylene Ether AC-1802 (CAS: 26635-92-7) is a white to slightly yellow waxy solid at room temperature (melting point 45~50°C), with an HLB value of about 4.5. It is a low HLB nonionic surfactant with strong lipophilicity. Under acidic conditions, the amine group protonates and exhibits cationic characteristics. Before use, the appropriate method must be selected according to the specific formulation system: if adding directly, heat it above 50°C to melt into liquid before feeding; if dispersing in aqueous phase, pre-dissolve it in hot water at 70~80°C (it can disperse in cold water but with poor effect), or dissolve in organic solvents such as ethanol or isopropanol before adding to the system.

When used as an antistatic agent in plastics/synthetic fibers, the internal addition type generally recommends 0.3%~1.5% of the resin weight, blending with resin during mixing or extrusion; external coating type can be formulated into a 1%~5% water or alcohol solution for spraying on the product surface. For textile softening/leveling processes, recommended bath ratio is 1:10~1:20, dosage 0.5%~2% (based on fabric weight), treating at 40~60°C for 20~30 minutes. In daily chemical formulations as a conditioner or emulsifier, recommended dosage is 0.5%~3% of the total formula, dissolved in the oil phase by heating before emulsification. For industrial emulsification/dispersion, metalworking fluids, mineral flotation, etc., the recommended dosage range is usually 0.1%~2% of the total system, with specific amounts determined through experimental optimization.

This product has excellent chemical stability, resistant to acids, alkalis, and hard water, maintaining stable performance within pH 3~12; low foaming characteristics make it suitable for circulating systems; amine value 150~165, tertiary amine content ≥95% ensures excellent cationic adsorption performance under acidic conditions. Wear protective gloves and goggles during operation to avoid skin and eye contact.

Precautions

  • Pre-treatment: This product is a solid waxy substance. Heat to melt (above 50°C) or pre-dissolve in hot water (70~80°C)/organic solvents (ethanol, isopropanol, etc.) before use. Direct addition into cold water results in poor dispersion.
  • Acidic Activation: To utilize its cationic characteristic for enhanced adsorption on negatively charged surfaces (such as antistatic, conditioning, flotation), it is recommended to adjust the system pH to 4~6 to protonate the amine group.
  • Compounding Recommendations: With an HLB value of only 4.5, it has strong lipophilicity when used alone. For O/W emulsion preparation, it is recommended to compound with high HLB emulsifiers (HLB 12~15) for a more stable emulsion system.
  • Safety Protection: It is a skin irritant (Category 2) and eye irritant (Category 2A). Wear chemical-resistant gloves and protective goggles during operation; harmful to aquatic life (Category 3), wastewater must be treated before discharge.
  • Storage: Keep sealed in a cool, dry place at 10~40°C, away from strong oxidizers and strong acids.
