Octadecylamine Polyoxyethylene Ether AC-1810 (CAS: 26635-75-6) is a nonionic surfactant with weak cationic properties. It appears as a light yellow to yellow waxy solid, has an HLB value of about 12.5, is easily soluble in water and organic solvents, and is widely used in textile printing and dyeing, pesticides, daily chemicals, metal processing, petroleum, and plastics industries.

Detailed Description

Octadecylamine Polyoxyethylene Ether AC-1810, chemically named Octadecylamine Polyoxyethylene (10) Ether, also known as PEG-10 Stearylamine / Polyoxyethylene (10) stearylamine, has the molecular formula C₃₈H₇₉NO₁₀ and a molecular weight of approximately 710. This product, manufactured by Guoli Chemical, is a polyoxyethylene ether nonionic surfactant prepared by the addition reaction of octadecylamine (stearylamine) with 10 moles of ethylene oxide (EO).

The molecular structure of AC-1810 contains both hydrophilic polyoxyethylene chains and hydrophobic long-chain octadecyl groups, along with a tertiary amine group, giving it excellent emulsifying, wetting, and dispersing capabilities. Its ionic nature is nonionic, while the tertiary amine group imparts weak cationic properties, allowing it to adsorb on treated surfaces and provide antistatic effects. This product maintains high stability in acidic, alkaline, and hard water media, making it suitable for a wide range of systems, and it is a low-foaming surfactant.

The product has an active content of ≥99%, moisture content ≤0.5%, tertiary amine content ≥95%, hydroxyl value of approximately 160 mg KOH/g. It is a waxy solid at room temperature (melting point 40–50°C), with a cloud point of 90°C for a 1% aqueous solution and a critical micelle concentration (CMC) of only 0.01 g/L (25°C), indicating excellent surface activity and cost-effectiveness.

Application Recommendations

AC-1810, with its excellent emulsifying, wetting, and dispersing abilities as well as weak cationic properties, has broad and mature applications in the following industries:

  • Textile Printing and Dyeing Industry: Used as a high-efficiency leveling agent to significantly improve the uniform distribution of dyes on fibers; also imparts excellent antistatic properties to fabrics, reducing static buildup during processing and use. Recommended dosage is typically 0.5% to 2% of the working solution.
  • Pesticide Industry: Used as an emulsifier to effectively disperse and stabilize pesticide active ingredients, enhancing the wetting and spreading ability of the spray solution. Suitable for formulations such as emulsifiable concentrates (EC), oil-in-water emulsions (EW), and microemulsions (ME).
  • Daily Chemical Industry: Possesses both emulsifying and solubilizing functions, used in creams, lotions, shampoos, and other products to help evenly disperse oil-soluble ingredients and improve formulation clarity and stability.
  • Metalworking Fluids: Acts as a corrosion inhibitor, forming a protective film on metal surfaces to inhibit rust and extend the service life of cutting fluids, rust preventives, etc.
  • Petroleum Industry: Used as a demulsifier component to quickly break crude oil emulsions, promote oil-water separation, and improve the efficiency of crude oil dehydration and desalting.
  • Plastics Industry: Used as an antistatic agent and emulsifier in plastics processing to reduce static electricity and improve the dispersion of additives.
