C13 Alcohol Ethoxylate E-1340 is a high-performance nonionic surfactant based on isotridecanol as the starter, with 13 moles of ethylene oxide (EO) added. It exhibits excellent emulsifying, wetting, penetrating, and dispersing capabilities, making it a versatile multifunctional additive widely used in textile, cleaning, leather, papermaking, and many other industrial fields.

Detailed Description

C13 Alcohol Ethoxylate E-1340 (CAS No.: 9043-30-5), chemical name: isotridecanol polyoxyethylene (13) ether, also known as Isotridecanol Ethoxylate (13EO) or PEG-13 Isotridecyl Ether. It appears as a colorless to slightly yellow transparent liquid or paste and belongs to the nonionic surfactant category. Due to the molecular structure containing both a hydrophobic isotridecyl carbon chain and a hydrophilic polyoxyethylene (13EO) segment, it possesses outstanding amphiphilic properties and can effectively reduce interfacial tension.

The core characteristic of this product lies in its strong emulsifying ability - it can disperse a variety of oil phases into stable and fine emulsion systems; at the same time, it has rapid wetting and penetrating properties, promoting liquid spreading on the substrate surface; additionally, it exhibits excellent dispersibility, preventing particle aggregation and maintaining long-term stability of the dispersion system. In terms of chemical properties, C13 Alcohol Ethoxylate E-1340 remains stable in acidic and alkaline environments, can tolerate hard water conditions, and has a wide range of applications.

The product is supplied by Haian Guoli Chemical Co., Ltd. (Guoli Chemical) and is widely used in textile scouring and penetrating, industrial hard surface cleaning for oil emulsification, leather degreasing and fatliquoring, paper deinking, pigment wetting and dispersion in water-based coatings, pesticide emulsifiable concentrate emulsification, metalworking fluids, and emulsion polymerization stabilization. It is a proven mature industrial surfactant product in the market.

Application Recommendations

Textile Dyeing and Printing: Used as scouring agent, penetrating agent, and leveling agent, providing excellent wetting and penetrating properties during pretreatment and dyeing processes, helping to remove fabric impurities and ensure uniform dye uptake.

Industrial Cleaning: Suitable for hard surface and metal cleaning formulations, efficiently emulsifying and dispersing oil stains with low foam and easy rinsing characteristics, recommended for kitchen, bathroom cleaning, and industrial parts cleaning.

Leather Processing: Used in degreasing to remove natural fats from raw hides, and as a fatliquoring emulsification carrier to promote uniform oil penetration, making leather soft and full.

Papermaking Industry: As a component of deinking agents, promoting separation of ink from fibers and preventing redeposition; also used for felt cleaning.

Water-Based Coatings and Inks: As a wetting and dispersing agent, quickly wetting pigment and filler particles, stabilizing dispersion, and preventing flocculation and sedimentation.

Agrochemicals: As an emulsifier for pesticide emulsifiable concentrates and aqueous emulsions, and as a tank-mix wetting adjuvant, reducing surface tension of spray solution, enhancing spreading and penetration on plant leaves.

Metalworking Fluids: Provides lubrication, cooling, and cleaning functions in semi-synthetic or fully synthetic cutting fluids.

Emulsion Polymerization: Acts as an emulsifying stabilizer in emulsion polymerization of monomers such as acrylates and styrene, providing excellent micellar solubilization and particle size control.

Precautions

  • Health Hazards: This product is harmful if swallowed (H302), causes skin irritation (H315) and serious eye damage (H318). Protective chemical safety goggles, protective gloves (e.g., nitrile rubber gloves), and protective clothing must be worn during handling.
  • Environmental Hazards: Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects (H412). Prevent spills from entering sewers, surface water, and groundwater.
  • First Aid Measures: In case of skin contact, immediately wash with plenty of water and soap for at least 15 minutes. In case of eye contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water or saline solution for at least 15 minutes while holding eyelids open and seek medical attention immediately. If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting, immediately drink warm water to dilute and seek medical attention immediately.
  • Storage Requirements: Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse. Temperature should be controlled between 5°C and 40°C. Keep containers tightly closed, away from heat sources and strong oxidizers.
