Emulsifier FM (Triethanolamine Monooleate) is a nonionic O/W emulsifier with an HLB value of approximately 12. It appears as a light yellow to brownish-yellow oily liquid with an active content of ≥99%. No special dilution is required before use; it can be directly added to the formulation. The most common operation method is as follows: first, mix Emulsifier FM with the base oil or oil-soluble components in the formulation and heat to 40~60°C, stirring evenly to form a transparent oil phase; then, under stirring conditions, slowly add the water phase to the oil phase, or add the oil phase to the water phase, and obtain a stable and fine milky white emulsion through high-speed shearing or homogenization. For processes such as emulsion polymerization, it can be directly added to the water phase to participate in micelle formation.
Regarding the addition amount, Guoli Chemical Product Database does not provide fixed recommended values for each application field, but according to industry common practices: in metalworking fluids, when used as the main emulsifier, it is typically added at 5% to 15% (based on the concentrate); in cosmetic creams and lotions, add 1% to 5%; in textile softeners, add 3% to 8%; in pesticide emulsifiable concentrates, as an emulsifier component, add 3% to 10%; in industrial cleaners, add 2% to 6%. The specific optimal dosage should be determined through small-scale gradient experiments to achieve the desired balance between emulsion stability and cost-effectiveness.

Metalworking Fluids (Emulsifiable Cutting Fluids, Grinding Fluids): Add Emulsifier FM at 5% to 15% of the total concentrate into the base oil, heat to 50~60°C and stir to dissolve, then add additives such as rust inhibitors and extreme pressure agents, and finally slowly add the measured water while stirring at high speed to form a stable O/W type concentrate. When in use, dilute with water to form the working fluid. This process significantly improves emulsion stability and rust protection capability.
Cosmetic Creams and Lotions: The recommended addition amount is 1% to 5% of the total formulation. Heat Emulsifier FM together with oil phase components such as oils and higher alcohols to 70~75°C, also heat the water phase to the same temperature, and under homogenizing stirring, add the oil phase to the water phase, homogenize for 3~5 minutes, then cool. Its mild characteristics make it suitable for preparing cleansing creams, shampoos, conditioners, and other wash-care products, imparting a soft skin feel and a certain fatting effect.
Textile Softeners and Antistatic Agents: The recommended addition amount is 3% to 8% of the total working fluid. It can be directly mixed with soft water and stirred evenly, or compounded with other cationic/nonionic softening components. After treating the fabric, it effectively eliminates electrostatic accumulation during the processing of synthetic fibers, giving the fabric a good smooth hand feel.
Pesticide Emulsifiable Concentrates and Microemulsions: The recommended addition amount is 3% to 10% of the total preparation. Mix Emulsifier FM uniformly with the pesticide technical material and solvent. Upon dilution, it spontaneously forms a stable emulsion, promoting the spreading and penetration of the spray liquid on the leaf surface, thereby improving field application effectiveness.
Industrial Cleaners: The recommended addition amount is 2% to 6% of the cleaner concentrate. In water-based or solvent-based cleaning formulations, Emulsifier FM enhances the emulsification and removal ability for mineral oils, animal and vegetable oils, delaying soil redeposition, making it suitable for metal degreasing and hard surface cleaning.
Emulsion Polymerization: When used in emulsion polymerization of monomers such as acrylates and styrene-butadiene rubber, the recommended addition amount is 1% to 3% of the total monomer. It provides a stable micelle environment, helps precisely control the particle size of the latex particles, and ensures smooth progress of the polymerization reaction.
This product is a skin sensitizer (GHS Category 1), with hazard statement H317: May cause an allergic skin reaction. impermeable gloves (such as nitrile rubber gloves) and protective clothing must be worn during operation to avoid skin contact. Use in a well-ventilated area and avoid inhalation of vapors or mists. If skin contact occurs, wash immediately with plenty of soap and water; if rash or irritation occurs, seek medical attention immediately. Store the product in a closed container, in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, with storage temperature recommended between 5~35°C, away from strong oxidizing agents and acids. Eating, drinking, or smoking is prohibited in the operating area; contaminated work clothes must not be taken out of the work site.
