1. Product is difficult to take out or inconvenient to use
MOA-23 (AEO-23) is a white waxy solid with a melting point of about 40~45°C, solid at room temperature. During operation, it can be preheated and softened in a 35~50°C warm water bath, or the whole barrel can be moved to a warm room for storage (not exceeding 40°C), and then feed after the material softens. Note: This operation is a change in physical state and does not affect the activity and quality of the product.

2. Softening or partial melting during summer storage
Softening of the product in the barrel during high temperature seasons is a normal physical phenomenon, not product deterioration. The Guoli Chemical product database clearly states that this condition does not affect the use effect. It is recommended to store the product in a cool, ventilated place, with a recommended storage temperature of 5°C to 40°C, avoiding direct sunlight and continuous high temperature environment.

3. Turbidity or uneven dispersion after dissolution
The HLB value of MOA-23 is about 16.5, the cloud point is >100°C (1% aqueous solution), and it is easily soluble in water. If there is difficulty in dissolution or turbidity, the common causes and countermeasures are:

  • Water temperature too low: It is recommended to pre-dissolve in 40~60°C warm water before adding to the system
  • Too fast feeding speed: Add slowly and stir thoroughly to avoid forming agglomerates
  • Adding simultaneously with high concentration electrolytes or strong acids/bases: It is recommended to add in stages, first dissolve MOA-23 and then add other auxiliaries

4. Unsatisfactory emulsion stability
MOA-23, as a nonionic emulsifier with a high HLB value (about 16.5), is specifically designed for O/W (oil-in-water) emulsion systems. If the emulsion shows layering or breaking, you can check from the following aspects:

  • Oil phase type and HLB compatibility: Confirm whether the required HLB value of the emulsified oil phase is within the applicable range of MOA-23 (about 15~18), and if necessary, blend with low HLB value emulsifiers
  • Emulsification process: Whether the homogenization speed and time are sufficient, high shear emulsification equipment is recommended
  • Addition amount: Adjust the dosage according to the solid content and oil phase ratio of the system, usually 3%~10% of the oil phase weight

5. Accidental skin or eye contact
MOA-23 is classified under GHS as Skin irritation category 2 (H315) and Serious eye irritation category 2A (H319). In case of contact, immediately handle as follows:

  • Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing, rinse with plenty of water and soap, seek medical attention if irritation persists
  • Eye contact: Immediately rinse with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, lifting eyelids frequently. If wearing contact lenses, remove them first. If irritation persists after rinsing, seek medical attention immediately
