Peregal O-20 (fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene (20) ether) is a non-ionic surfactant. According to the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS), its hazard classifications are: Skin irritation Category 2 (H315), Serious eye irritation Category 2A (H319), and Respiratory irritation Category 3 (H335). The hazard classification symbol is Xi (irritant substance), and the risk phrase is R36/37/38 - meaning it is irritating to eyes, respiratory system, and skin. Although its acute oral toxicity LD50 is greater than 2000 mg/kg (rat), placing it in the low-toxicity category, strict adherence to safety regulations is still required during routine operations.
Before operation, appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn, including protective gloves, goggles, or face shield (P280). Use outdoors or in a well-ventilated area (P271), and avoid inhaling dust or fumes (P261). After handling, wash exposed skin thoroughly and immediately (P264). Good industrial hygiene practices should be maintained in the workplace, avoiding contact with broken skin and mucous membranes, and non-operating personnel should stay away from the work area.
Skin contact: Immediately remove all contaminated clothing and rinse skin thoroughly with plenty of soap and water (P302+P352). If irritation persists or worsens, seek medical advice.
Eye contact: Rinse cautiously and gently with water for at least 15 minutes, keeping the eyelids open during the process. If irritation persists, seek medical attention immediately (P305+P351+P338).
Inhalation: Move the patient to fresh air and keep breathing comfortable. If feeling unwell, call a poison control center or doctor immediately (P312).
Ingestion: Rinse mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention immediately and show the container or label.
When Peregal O-20 is used as a leveling agent in textile dyeing and printing, it is recommended to be compounded with other auxiliaries to achieve synergistic effects. As an emulsifier in pesticide formulations, it can effectively reduce oil-water interfacial tension and form a stable emulsion in water system. In daily chemicals (creams, lotions), it serves as an O/W emulsifier, imparting a fine and glossy texture to the products. Due to its non-ionic nature, it has broad compatibility with anionic, cationic, and zwitterionic surfactants.
