OPP-10 Octylphenol Ethoxylate Phosphate is an anionic surfactant prepared by phosphating octylphenol ethoxylate, possessing both nonionic and anionic characteristics. It is widely used in textile, metalworking, agrochemicals, cleaning, and other industrial fields.
Detailed Description
OPP-10 (CAS: 51811-79-1), full name octylphenol ethoxylate phosphate, also known as polyoxyethylene octylphenol ether phosphate (10EO), phosphorylated octylphenol ethoxylate, OP-10 phosphate. This product is manufactured by Haian Guoli Chemical Co., Ltd. and appears as a light yellow to yellow viscous liquid.
From a chemical structure perspective, the molecule of OPP-10 contains both ether bonds (from the polyoxyethylene chain) and phosphate ester groups. This unique molecular design gives it the dual advantages of nonionic surfactants (hydrophilicity from ether bonds) and anionic surfactants (charged characteristics from phosphate groups). The product is anionic but exhibits many beneficial properties of nonionic surfactants.
The core performance of OPP-10 includes: excellent emulsifying ability, wetting and penetrating properties, and dispersion stability. Its outstanding acid and alkali resistance and hard water tolerance allow it to maintain stable interfacial activity under complex water quality conditions and acidic/alkaline environments, which many ordinary surfactants cannot achieve. In addition, the product demonstrates good antistatic properties and certain anti-rust and corrosion inhibition effects, enabling "multi-functionality in one agent."

Application Recommendations
OPP-10 has a very wide range of applications, covering eight major industrial scenarios:
- Textile Dyeing and Finishing: Used as an antistatic agent and scouring agent to eliminate static buildup during fiber processing and improve fabric pretreatment effects.
- Metalworking Fluids: Acts as an emulsifier and rust inhibitor, suitable for cutting fluids and grinding fluids, providing stable emulsion structure and metal surface protection.
- Industrial and Hard Surface Cleaning: Enhances the emulsifying and dispersing ability of cleaning agents for heavy oil and grease, suitable for efficient degreasing and cleaning of industrial equipment and hard surfaces.
- Agrochemical Formulations: Used as an emulsifier in emulsifiable concentrates and emulsions to improve formulation stability and spray liquid spreading.
- Personal Care Products: Used as an oil-in-water emulsifier or solubilizer to help transparently disperse fragrances and oily components in formulas such as lotions.
- Emulsion Polymerization: Provides emulsification and particle stability in acrylic, styrene-acrylic, and other emulsion polymerizations, improving mechanical and freeze-thaw stability of the emulsion.
- Leather Processing: Used in degreasing processes to effectively remove natural fats from raw hides while gently protecting the fiber structure.
- Coatings and Inks: Acts as a wetting and dispersing agent to promote wetting and dispersion of pigments and fillers, preventing flocculation, floating, and flooding.
Precautions
- Safety Protection: This product is irritating to skin and eyes. During operation, wear chemical-resistant protective gloves (e.g., nitrile rubber gloves) and chemical safety goggles, and wear anti-permeable work clothing.
- Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, well-ventilated dedicated warehouse with temperature not exceeding 30°C. Keep away from fire and heat sources. Keep containers sealed. Store separately from oxidizers and strong alkalis.
- Fire Safety: Combustible when exposed to open flame or high heat. Thermal decomposition may release toxic phosphorus oxide gases. Suitable extinguishing media include alcohol-resistant foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide, and sand.
- Environmental Protection: Extremely toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects. Do not discharge into any water body without treatment.
- First Aid Measures: In case of skin contact, immediately wash with plenty of water and soap. For eye contact, rinse continuously with water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention immediately. If ingested, do not induce vomiting; seek immediate medical attention. For detailed safety information, refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
