Polyethylene glycol PEG-600 appears as a viscous liquid or semi-solid at room temperature (melting point 15~25°C), easily soluble in water, ethanol, and acetone. In practical applications, its usage methods can be roughly divided into three categories: Direct Addition Method (e.g., directly added to the system as a lubricant or humectant), Pre-dissolution Method (pre-dissolved in water or solvent before compounding), and Melting Method (used as a base for pharmaceutical ointments\/suppositories, heated to 40~50°C to completely melt, then mixed with other ingredients).
In pharmaceutical preparations, PEG-600 is often used as an ointment base or suppository base: heat it in a water bath until completely melted (not exceeding 60°C), add the active drug at this temperature, stir until uniformly dispersed, pour into molds or dispense while hot, and cool to obtain the finished product. As a droplet pill carrier, mix the drug with PEG-600 according to the prescription ratio, heat and melt to form a uniform liquid, drip into a cooling liquid to condense into pills. As a solubilizer for injections, generally dilute PEG-600 with water for injection to a concentration of 10%~30%, then add the drug and stir to dissolve.

Application Recommendations
The reference dosages in each field below are based on the application practice of Guoli Chemical products and general formulation experience in the industry:
- Pharmaceutical Ointment Base: Dosage is 10%~85% of the total prescription, often compounded with PEG-400, PEG-1500, etc. to adjust consistency. Heating melting temperature is 40~50°C, avoid exceeding 60°C to prevent degradation of active ingredients.
- Suppository Base: Dosage is 70%~95% of the total prescription, melt and pour into molds to cool and form.
- Droplet Pill Carrier: The ratio of drug to PEG-600 is usually 1:2 to 1:5, with melting temperature controlled below the drug's stability temperature (generally 60~90°C).
- Personal Care Humectant: Recommended addition amount is 1%~5%, directly added to the aqueous phase and stirred to dissolve.
- Metalworking Fluid: As a lubricant and coolant component, recommended addition amount is 5%~20%.
