Answer
2026-06-06 官方文档 异构醇聚醚E-1303

Isomeric Alcohol Polyether E-1303 is a nonionic surfactant with a low HLB value (about 8), featuring excellent emulsifying, wetting, and penetrating properties. It appears as a colorless to light yellow liquid at room temperature and exhibits low foaming characteristics when dispersed in water.

Detailed Description

Isomeric Alcohol Polyether E-1303 (CAS: 9043-30-5) is a nonionic surfactant produced by Guoli Chemical through ethoxylation (average 3 moles of EO) of isomeric tridecyl alcohol. Its molecular formula is C13H27O(C2H4O)nH (n≈3), with a molecular weight of approximately 332. The product appears as a colorless to light yellow liquid, with an active content ≥99% and free alcohol content ≤1%, making it a high-purity product.

Due to its isomeric branched hydrophobic structure, this product exhibits outstanding interfacial activity. Its HLB value is approximately 8, surface tension is as low as 25-30 mN/m, critical micelle concentration (CMC) ranges from 0.1 to 0.5 g/L, cloud point is 30-45°C, and hydroxyl value is between 165 and 175 mgKOH/g. The product has good chemical stability at room temperature, can withstand a wide range of acidic, alkaline, and hard water environments, and is classified as a low-foaming surfactant. Its penetrating power (0.1% aqueous solution, standard canvas method) is 5-10 seconds.

From a toxicological and environmental perspective, this product has an acute oral toxicity LD50 > 2000 mg/kg (low toxicity), mild skin irritation, moderate eye irritation, and no skin sensitization. Ecotoxicity: fish LC50, algae EC50, and daphnia EC50 are all > 100 mg/L, and it is readily biodegradable (OECD 301 method, ≥60% BOD/COD), making it an environmentally compatible product.

Application Recommendations

Based on its HLB value of about 8, Isomeric Alcohol Polyether E-1303 is particularly suitable for use as a W/O emulsifier and wetting/penetrating agent. In industrial metal cleaning and hard surface cleaning formulations, a recommended dosage is 4%-15%; in textile printing and dyeing as a scouring penetrant, a concentration of 0.5-3 g/L in working solution is suggested; in pesticide emulsifiable concentrate formulations, it works best when paired with surfactants of higher HLB values, with a recommended amount of 5%-12% of the total formula. Since the product disperses in water to form an emulsion and has a low cloud point (30-45°C), its suitability should be carefully evaluated in formulations requiring a completely transparent aqueous solution.

Precautions

  • Storage Conditions: Recommended storage temperature: 5°C to 40°C. Keep away from fire and heat sources. Avoid freezing or exposure to high temperatures. Keep containers tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption.
  • Safety Protection: GHS classification: Skin irritation Category 2, Serious eye irritation Category 2A. Wear chemical safety goggles and impermeable gloves during operation. Avoid direct contact with eyes and skin.
  • Eye Contact Treatment: If product enters the eyes, immediately lift eyelids and rinse with plenty of running water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses if present and continue rinsing. Seek medical attention if eye irritation persists.
  • Product is Dispersible Nonionic: It does not form a clear solution in water but rather a dispersion. The turbidity requirements of the formulation should be considered during design.
