Polyether L-42 belongs to the class of polyoxypropylene-polyoxyethylene block copolymer ether nonionic surfactants. Its molecular structure contains hydrophilic polyoxyethylene segments, which give it strong hygroscopicity. Therefore, keeping the container completely sealed is the primary storage principle—after opening, it should be immediately resealed to prevent the product from absorbing moisture from the air and to avoid contamination, thus preventing any changes in product properties.
In terms of environmental requirements, the product should be stored in a dedicated warehouse that is cool, dry, and well-ventilated, away from heat sources, sparks, open flames, and other ignition sources. Although polyether L-42 itself is not a flammable liquid (closed-cup flash point above 200°C), it may still produce irritating or toxic fumes under high-temperature conditions in a fire, so isolating ignition sources is a basic requirement for warehouse safety management.
In terms of chemical compatibility, polyether L-42 should be stored separately from incompatible substances such as strong oxidizers, strong acids, and strong bases to avoid product degradation or hazardous reactions due to accidental contact. Additionally, prolonged exposure to excessively high or low temperatures should be avoided to prevent freezing or overheating, which may lead to separation, cloudiness, or other property changes.
| Storage Parameter | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Recommended Storage Temperature | 5°C to 35°C |
| Container Status | Completely sealed; immediately reseal after opening |
| Environmental Requirement | Cool, dry, well-ventilated |
| Away from Ignition Sources | Heat sources, sparks, open flames, ignition sources |
| Incompatible Substances | Strong oxidizers, strong acids, strong bases |
| Special Protection | Prevent freezing and overheating |
In actual warehouse management, it is recommended to store polyether L-42 in the non-hazardous area of a dedicated chemical warehouse. For bulk storage, polyethylene (PE) drums with sealed lids or stainless steel storage tanks can be used, and the container integrity should be regularly inspected. If the product appears slightly cloudy or shows separation under winter or low-temperature conditions, this is a physical phenomenon. It can be restored by bringing it to the recommended temperature range and stirring evenly; this generally does not affect product performance.
