Tween T-81 (polyoxyethylene (5) sorbitan monooleate) is classified under GHS hazard category Eye Irritation Category 2, with pictogram GHS07 (exclamation mark) and signal word "Warning". Although its overall toxicity is low, accidental eye contact during operation can cause serious eye irritation, making eye protection the most important safety concern when using this product.
As a non-ionic surfactant, Tween T-81 is chemically stable under normal conditions and does not readily undergo vigorous reactions with other substances. However, this does not mean that safe operating procedures can be ignored. During industrial production and formulation blending, operations involving heating, stirring, and pouring should be carried out in a well-ventilated environment to avoid prolonged inhalation of vapors or mists. After work, hands and exposed skin should be thoroughly washed.
For storage, Tween T-81 should be kept sealed in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place. The storage temperature should be controlled between 5°C and 30°C, avoiding freezing and overheating. Containers should be kept away from heat sources, sparks, and open flames, and stored separately from incompatible substances such as strong oxidizing agents.

Immediately separate eyelids and rinse continuously with plenty of water or saline solution for at least 15 minutes. If wearing contact lenses and it is easy to do so, remove them during the rinse. If eye irritation persists after rinsing, seek medical attention immediately. This is in accordance with Precautionary Statements P305+P351+P338 and P337+P313.
Immediately remove contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly with plenty of soap and water. If irritation or discomfort persists, seek medical attention.
Rinse mouth with water immediately. Do NOT induce vomiting. Seek medical attention promptly. Show the safety data sheet or container label to the doctor.
Evacuate personnel to a safe area. Wear personal protective equipment. Contain and collect the spill with inert absorbent material (e.g., sand, diatomaceous earth) and place in a sealed container for disposal according to regulations. Avoid discharge into drains or water bodies.
Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry powder, or carbon dioxide for extinction. Firefighters must wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing.
