XPO-5 (triphenylethylene phenol polyoxyethylene ether ammonium sulfate salt) is an anionic surfactant independently developed and produced by Guoli Chemical. It appears as a pale yellow to amber transparent viscous liquid. Its molecular structure contains a triphenylethylene phenol hydrophobic group and a polyoxyethylene ether ammonium sulfate hydrophilic group, endowing the product with excellent interfacial activity. The effective content of this product is not less than 60%, with an HLB value between 10–12, belonging to the category of hydrophilic emulsifiers, capable of forming stable emulsions in oil/water systems.
In terms of performance, XPO-5 exhibits excellent emulsifying, wetting and dispersing capabilities. Its surface tension is as low as 32–38 mN/m, and the critical micelle concentration (CMC) is only 0.1–0.5 g/L, meaning it can significantly reduce the interfacial tension of the system at very low concentrations. At the same time, this product has excellent acid and alkali stability and hard water adaptability, maintaining high performance even under complex water quality or large pH fluctuation process conditions, which is difficult for many conventional anionic surfactants.
From the perspective of safety and environmental protection, XPO-5 has low toxicity characteristics (rat oral LD₅₀ > 2000 mg/kg), non-irritating and non-sensitizing to the skin, and only very mild discomfort to the eyes. Ecotoxicological data shows low toxicity to aquatic organisms, with fish 96 h LC₅₀ > 100 mg/L, daphnia 48 h EC₅₀ > 100 mg/L, and OECD 301B test confirmed that the 28-day biodegradation rate exceeds 70%, making it an easily biodegradable and environmentally friendly product.

Pesticide Emulsifier: Used as the main emulsifier in pesticide formulations (such as emulsifiable concentrate, microemulsion, and emulsion in water), it can effectively disperse oily pesticide active ingredients in water-based systems, enhance the uniformity of the spray liquid, and improve the coverage rate and efficacy of field application. It is recommended to be used in combination with appropriate nonionic emulsifiers to optimize the HLB value of the formulation.
Emulsion Polymerization Emulsifier: In the polymerization of systems such as acrylates and styrene-acrylic emulsions, XPO-5 effectively emulsifies monomers and stabilizes latex particles, helping to control the particle size distribution of the polymer and improve the mechanical stability and storage stability of the final latex. When compounding, it can be used in conjunction with nonionic surfactants to obtain a wider process window.
Textile Auxiliaries: Suitable for formulations such as pre-treatment scouring agents and leveling agents for dyeing, utilizing its excellent wetting and penetrating power and emulsifying dispersing ability to improve the uniformity of fiber treatment and dye penetration, reducing color spots and color difference problems.
Industrial Detergents: As the core surfactant component of heavy-duty industrial cleaning agents, it provides excellent detergency and emulsifying ability in scenarios such as metal degreasing, hard surface cleaning, and industrial fabric washing, especially suitable for the removal of oily dirt.
