Dodecylamine Polyoxyethylene Ether AC-1205 is a nonionic surfactant produced by ethoxylation reaction using dodecylamine as a starter. Under normal conditions, it exhibits nonionic characteristics, while in acidic media it shows cationic properties, combining excellent emulsifying, dispersing, wetting, and antistatic functions.

Detailed Description

Dodecylamine Polyoxyethylene Ether AC-1205 (CAS No.: 26635-75-6), also known as Laurylamine Polyoxyethylene Ether (5EO), PEG-5 Dodecylamine, is a high-performance nonionic surfactant produced by Hai'an Guoli Chemical Co., Ltd. The product is manufactured by ethoxylation of dodecylamine (laurylamine) with ethylene oxide. Its molecular structure contains both hydrophilic polyoxyethylene chains and hydrophobic long-chain alkyl groups, imparting unique amphiphilic properties.

The most prominent feature of this product is the tunability of its ionic properties: under normal neutral or alkaline conditions, it behaves as a nonionic type with excellent formulation compatibility; when the system switches to an acidic environment, the amine groups in the molecule undergo protonation, exhibiting cationic characteristics that provide superior adsorption and affinity. This "smart switching" mechanism enables AC-1205 to meet various process conditions, resulting in an extremely wide range of applications.

In terms of performance, AC-1205 possesses efficient emulsifying capacity, capable of rapidly reducing oil/water interfacial tension to form stable and fine emulsion systems, especially suitable for formulations with high electrolyte content or extreme temperature conditions. At the same time, this product offers excellent dispersing and suspending effects on pigments, solid particles, and active substances, significantly reducing the contact angle of working fluids on various substrates and enhancing penetration rate and uniformity. Additionally, it maintains stable surface activity in acid, alkali, and hard water systems, and provides antistatic and fiber conditioning functions.

Application Recommendations

Dodecylamine Polyoxyethylene Ether AC-1205, with its unique molecular structure and multifunctional properties, has broad application value in multiple industries:

  • Agrochemical Formulations: Used as a high-efficiency pesticide emulsifier in emulsifiable concentrates, emulsions, and oil-based suspension concentrates, significantly reducing oil-water interfacial tension and improving emulsion stability and dilution dispersibility; also serves as a tank-mix adjuvant to enhance the wetting and spreading ability of the spray liquid on target surfaces.
  • Textile Dyeing and Finishing: Acts as a high-temperature leveling agent and fiber antistatic agent in pretreatment, dyeing, and finishing processes of synthetic fibers, improving dye migration, reducing static accumulation and color unevenness; also used as a soaping agent after dyeing to enhance fabric hand feel.
  • Daily Chemicals: Used as a thickening, emulsifying, and antistatic conditioning component in formulations such as shampoos, conditioners, and body washes, improving foam fineness and imparting a smooth and soft feel to hair and skin; also applicable in fabric softeners and hard surface cleaners.
  • Industrial Cleaning: Used in formulations of vehicle cleaners and heavy-duty degreasers, capable of penetrating and emulsifying mineral oils and vegetable oils, enhancing detergency while reducing the corrosive effect of cleaning agents on metal and plastic substrates.
  • Metalworking Fluids: Provides lubrication, dispersion, and rust prevention in water-based cutting fluids, grinding fluids, and rust inhibitors, adsorbing onto metal surfaces to form a protective film, reducing tool wear and inhibiting rust formation.
  • Coatings and Inks: Acts as a pigment dispersant in coatings, inks, and color paste systems, preventing pigment flocculation through steric hindrance and electrostatic stabilization mechanisms, improving tinting strength and storage stability.
  • Petroleum Industry: Used as a crude oil demulsifier and desalting agent, accelerating oil-water separation and reducing interfacial film strength; also serves as a synergistic component in acidizing corrosion inhibitors for oilfields.
