Fatty amine polyoxyethylene ether AC-1860 is a nonionic surfactant with high HLB value (18) and low foaming property. It exhibits cationic characteristics in acidic media. With strong emulsifying power, excellent acid/alkali and hard water stability, and outstanding dispersion and wetting performance, it is widely applicable in seven major fields such as textile printing and dyeing, metal processing, pesticide formulations, and industrial cleaning.

Detailed Description

Fatty amine polyoxyethylene ether AC-1860 (CAS number: 26635-92-7), chemical name: octadecyl amine polyoxyethylene (60) ether, molecular weight approximately 2913. Under normal conditions, this product is nonionic, but it can convert to cationic type in acidic systems. This unique ionic property conversion allows it to exert surface activity in various pH environments. Appearance: light yellow to yellow-brown solid (melting point about 35~45°C), easily soluble in water and many organic solvents, easy to handle.

The core advantages of this product are reflected in "four strong and one stable": Strong emulsifying power - outstanding emulsifying ability for various oils, waxes, and organic solvents, forming stable emulsions; Good wetting and spreading - surface tension of 1% aqueous solution is about 30 mN/m, critical micelle concentration (CMC) is only about 0.001 g/L, effectively reducing interfacial tension; Excellent dispersibility - maintains excellent suspension and dispersion of pigments and dyes even under high temperature and high shear conditions; Outstanding chemical stability - remains active in acid, alkali, and hard water systems, with good alkali resistance, not prone to hydrolysis or failure. In addition, the product has low foam, active substance content ≥99%, tertiary amine content ≥95%, and is a high-purity fine chemical auxiliary.

From a safety perspective, the acute oral and dermal toxicity of this product are both low (LD50 both >2000 mg/kg), but it has moderate irritation to skin and eyes (GHS classification H315, H319), and is toxic to aquatic organisms (H401/H412). Protective gloves and goggles must be worn during operation to avoid direct contact and discharge into water bodies.

Application Suggestions

Based on its hydrophilic characteristics with HLB value 18 and excellent comprehensive performance, AC-1860 is recommended for the following applications:

  • Textile Printing and Dyeing: Used as a core component of high-temperature and high-pressure leveling agents, utilizing its retarding and migrating effects to reduce color spots and streaks, improving the level dyeing effect on fabric.
  • Metalworking Fluids: Used as an emulsifier and anti-rust component to improve the lubrication and cooling performance of cutting fluids, forming a protective film on metal surfaces to inhibit corrosion.
  • Pesticide Formulations: For preparing stable emulsifiable concentrates or microemulsions, enhancing the dispersion and spreading of pesticide emulsions, promoting the wetting and spreading of the liquid on plant leaves.
  • Industrial and Household Cleaning: Used in laundry detergents and kitchen/bathroom cleaner formulations, providing strong emulsification and decontamination ability for various oil stains, with moderate foam.
  • Chemical Fiber Finishing Oils: Reducing friction between fibers and metals, eliminating static electricity accumulation during synthetic fiber processing, improving spinning and drawing smoothness.
  • Leather Degreasing: Gently penetrating and removing natural oils from raw hides, resulting in soft and non-loose leather after degreasing.
  • Coatings and Adhesives: Used as a dispersing component for pigments and fillers, and as an emulsification stabilizer in emulsion polymerization processes.

Precautions

  • Protective Requirements: During operation, wear chemical safety goggles and chemical-resistant gloves (e.g., butyl rubber or nitrile rubber) to avoid direct contact with skin and eyes; use respiratory protection if ventilation is insufficient.
  • Irritation: Moderately irritating to skin and eyes (
