Papermaking defoamer XS-02 (polyether ester defoamer) is a non-ionic surfactant product with relatively stable chemical properties. However, to ensure its long-term defoaming and foam suppression performance, storage conditions must strictly comply with the following requirements. This product is non-flammable and non-hazardous, with a closed cup flash point > 150 °C. Under normal storage conditions, there is no risk of fire or explosion, but it should still be kept away from heat sources and open flames.
After opening, the product should be used as soon as possible. After each use, the container must be immediately resealed to avoid prolonged exposure to air. If the product is exposed to moist air for a long time, the polyether ester components may slowly hydrolyze, affecting self-emulsifying dispersion performance and defoaming efficiency. For bulk packaging, it is recommended to dispense into smaller containers for use to reduce contamination and moisture absorption risks associated with frequent opening of the main package.
| Storage requirement | Specific description |
|---|---|
| Container status | Keep the original container or dedicated storage tank tightly sealed to prevent ingress of moisture and impurities |
| Storage environment | Cool, dry, dark place, avoid direct sunlight and UV radiation |
| Recommended temperature range | 5 ~ 35 °C |
| Avoid sources | Heat sources, sparks, open flames, and strong oxidizers |
| Leak prevention | Storage area floor should be chemical-resistant, with spill containment dikes or trays |
| Stacking requirements | Store upright according to packaging label orientation, avoid inversion or side-lying to prevent leakage |
Under strict adherence to the above storage conditions and with intact packaging, the recommended use period for papermaking defoamer XS-02 is 12 months from the date of production. This shelf life is a recommended usage period, not an absolute expiration. For products beyond the shelf life, it is recommended to conduct small-scale tests before use to confirm that the defoaming speed and foam suppression persistence still meet process requirements before continuing use.
If the following abnormal conditions occur during storage, even if the shelf life has not been reached, the product should be discontinued: obvious stratification that cannot be restored by stirring, development of rancid odor (possibly due to ester bond hydrolysis), significant color deepening, or precipitation. These phenomena are usually caused by high-temperature storage, poor sealing, or contamination.
