The usage method of Emulsifier A-110 should determine the addition order and dosage according to the specific application field. It is usually added directly to the water phase or oil phase, dissolving or dispersing under stirring.
Detailed Description
Emulsifier A-110 (Polyoxyethylene Oleate) is a non-ionic surfactant, appearing as a light yellow to yellow transparent oily liquid, with an active ingredient content ≥99%. Due to its HLB value between 11-12, it is easily soluble in water, making its operation in aqueous systems very simple. The general method is: under room temperature or slight warming (not exceeding 35°C to maintain optimal activity), slowly add it to the stirring water phase or oil phase, and continue stirring until completely dissolved or a uniform emulsion is formed. When used as an emulsifier, the typical addition amount is 3% to 8% of the total formula weight; as a wetting agent or solubilizer, the dosage can be reduced to 0.5% to 2%. The specific dosage needs to be optimized through small-scale tests to achieve the best balance between cost and performance.
In emulsification operations, if the oil phase to be emulsified has a high viscosity or is solid, it is recommended to first mix this product with the oil phase and heat to a liquid state, then emulsify with the water phase. This can obtain a more stable and fine O\/W emulsion. Since the cloud point of this product is 75-85°C, care should be taken when used in high-temperature processes. Exceeding the cloud point temperature will reduce its solubility and affect the emulsification effect. At this time, ensure the system temperature is below the cloud point.
This product has excellent compatibility and can be compounded in any proportion with anionic, cationic, and other non-ionic surfactants. When formulating, this characteristic can be used by compounding with other emulsifiers (such as water-in-oil emulsifiers with lower HLB values) to precisely adjust the HLB value of the system to meet the emulsification needs of different oil phases.
Application Suggestions
In different industries, the specific usage methods of Emulsifier A-110 are recommended as follows:
- Textile Industry (Wool Oil, Spinning Oil Agent): As a core emulsifying component, the recommended addition amount is 5% to 15% of the total formula. Add it to water, stir and dissolve at 40-50°C, then add oil-based components for emulsification to prepare a stable wool oil working fluid. It can effectively reduce fiber friction and provide good antistatic properties.
- Cosmetics and Personal Care Products (Creams, Lotions): As the main O\/W emulsifier, the recommended dosage is 2% to 6%. Add this product to the water phase and heat to 75-80°C, heat the oil phase to the same temperature, then slowly add the water phase to the oil phase while stirring for emulsification. After homogenization and cooling, a stable product is obtained. It has a light skin feel and can help solubilize fragrances.
- Pesticide Formulations (Emulsifiable Concentrates, Emulsion in Water): When preparing emulsifiable concentrates, mix evenly with the pesticide active ingredient and organic solvent. The dosage is usually 5% to 10% of the formula. When preparing emulsion in water, mix this product with the active ingredient and solvent to form the oil phase, then slowly add to water under high-speed shear for emulsification to obtain a formulation with good dilution stability.
- Metalworking Fluids (Cutting Fluids, Rust Preventive Emulsifying Oils): As an emulsifier and lubricant, the recommended addition amount is 10% to 20%. Mix this product with base oil, rust inhibitors, and other oily components, then slowly add to water under stirring until a transparent or translucent stable microemulsion is formed, providing excellent cooling and lubrication effects.
- Industrial Cleaning Agents: Utilizing its excellent degreasing and low-foaming properties, the recommended addition amount is 1% to 5%. Add directly to water and stir to dissolve. Suitable for spray and immersion cleaning processes, it can quickly remove oil stains from metal surfaces and is easy to rinse.
- Emulsion Polymerization: As a reactive emulsifier participating in polymerization. Usually, before polymerization, dissolve it in the water phase, then add the monomer. The recommended dosage is 1% to 3% of the total monomer amount, which can significantly improve the stability, water resistance, and adhesion of the final polymer emulsion.
Precautions
- Safety Protection: This product has slight irritation to skin and eyes. It is recommended to wear nitrile rubber gloves and goggles during operation, and use in a well-ventilated environment. For specific safety information, please refer to the product Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
- Storage Conditions: Should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place, with a recommended temperature of 5°C to 35°C, to prevent freezing or deterioration at high temperatures. Seal the container after each use and avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents.
- Test Before Use: Before applying to large-scale production, it is recommended to conduct small-scale experiments to determine the optimal dosage and process conditions for the specific formula.
