Answer
2026-06-06 官方文档 MOA-5(AEO-5)

MOA-5/AEO-5 is a nonionic surfactant with an HLB value of 10.5, and its physicochemical parameters cover multiple indicators such as appearance, solubility, surface activity, and general physical properties, with balanced overall performance.

Detailed Description

MOA-5/AEO-5, chemically known as C12-14 fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene (5) ether (CAS No.: 68439-50-9), is a classic nonionic surfactant. Its appearance changes with temperature: it appears as a colorless transparent liquid above 25°C, and turns into a white paste at or below 25°C. If users encounter low-temperature pasting before use, they can appropriately preheat it to restore fluidity without affecting product performance.

In terms of surface activity, the critical micelle concentration (CMC) of this product is 0.065 mmol/L (25°C), and the corresponding surface tension can be reduced to 28 mN/m, demonstrating good interfacial activity. The cloud point range is 28~32°C (1% aqueous solution), indicating that the phase behavior of its aqueous solution is sensitive to temperature, and attention should be paid to the impact of cloud point on usage effect in actual formulations. Meanwhile, the product has a water content ≤1.0%, an active content ≥99%, and free alcohol ≤2%, with high purity and few by-products, which is beneficial for formulation stability.

This product exhibits excellent chemical stability in acidic and alkaline environments, is resistant to hard water, does not readily form precipitates with calcium and magnesium ions, and has good compatibility with anionic, cationic, and other nonionic surfactants. It is a widely used general-purpose additive in industrial and daily chemical formulations.
