MOA-5 (AEO-5) is a classic nonionic surfactant. According to the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS), this product is classified as Skin irritation (Category 2) and Serious eye damage/eye irritation (Category 2A). The hazard pictogram is GHS07 (exclamation mark), and the signal word is "Warning". This means that in daily use, protection must focus on avoiding direct skin contact and eye exposure.
In terms of hazards, this product mainly poses two risks: H315: Causes skin irritation and H319: Causes serious eye irritation. Although MOA-5 is not a flammable substance or dangerous good, the workplace should still be well-ventilated during operation, avoid inhaling vapors in a long-term closed environment, and keep away from heat sources, open flames, and strong oxidizers.
If accidental contact occurs, appropriate emergency measures should be taken immediately. For skin contact, wash with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes; for eye contact, immediately lift the eyelids and rinse thoroughly with running water or saline for at least 15 minutes. If irritation persists, seek medical attention promptly. It is particularly important to note that if accidentally ingested, do not induce vomiting, rinse the mouth with water immediately, and seek medical attention quickly.
| Protection Type | Specific Measures | Corresponding Precautionary Code |
|---|---|---|
| Hand protection | Wear chemical protective gloves | P280 |
| Eye protection | Wear protective goggles/safety glasses | P280 |
| Body protection | Wear protective clothing, avoid exposed skin | P280 |
| Post-work handling | Thoroughly wash hands and any exposed skin | P264 |
| Skin contact emergency | Wash with plenty of soap and water; if irritation occurs, seek medical advice/attention | P302+P352, P332+P313 |
| Eye contact emergency | Rinse with water for several minutes, remove contact lenses if present and continue rinsing; if irritation persists, seek medical advice/attention | P305+P351+P338, P337+P313 |
MOA-5 should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse. The container must be kept sealed to prevent moisture absorption or contamination. It is recommended to store in original containers; under unopened conditions, the product is stable. Keep away from heat sources, sparks, open flames, and store separately from incompatible substances such as strong oxidizers, strong acids, and strong bases.
For transport, this product is not classified as dangerous goods and can be transported under general chemical transport conditions. During transport, avoid severe impact, inversion, and prolonged exposure to sunlight, and ensure the packaging is intact. In case of leakage, absorb spillage with inert materials (e.g., sand, vermiculite), collect in closed containers, and dispose of according to local regulations. Prevent from entering sewers or waterways.
Although MOA-5 itself is not flammable, it may produce toxic gases when heated or burned. In case of fire, firefighters should wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing. Water spray, foam, dry powder, or carbon dioxide extinguishers can be used.
