MOA-9P Laureth-9 Phosphate (CAS: 39464-66-9) is an anionic surfactant obtained by phosphating modification of laureth-9. It appears as a colorless to light yellow transparent liquid. Its unique molecular structure contains both polyoxyethylene ether chains (nonionic hydrophilic groups) and phosphate ester groups (anionic hydrophilic groups), giving it excellent compatibility and functional synergy in formulation systems — it retains the good emulsifying ability of nonionic surfactants while also possessing the outstanding wetting and penetrating properties of anionic surfactants.
In terms of performance, MOA-9P has five notable characteristics: First, excellent emulsifying performance, capable of efficiently stabilizing oil-water interfaces, suitable for preparing fine and stable emulsion systems; second, outstanding wetting and dispersing ability, significantly reducing interfacial tension and promoting uniform distribution of active ingredients; third, excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, and hard water, maintaining stable performance under wide pH ranges and high-hardness water conditions without deactivation or precipitation; fourth, good foaming and foam-stabilizing properties, giving the final product a fine and rich foam texture; fifth, extreme-pressure lubrication and anti-rust functions, providing effective boundary lubrication protection in metalworking systems while also exhibiting anti-rust and corrosion-inhibiting effects.
From an environmental and safety perspective, MOA-9P has low acute toxicity (rat oral LD₅₀ > 2000 mg/kg), is readily biodegradable (28-day degradation rate > 80%), has low toxicity to aquatic organisms (zebrafish 96-hour LC₅₀ > 100 mg/L), and has no bioaccumulation potential, making it an environmentally friendly surfactant. However, attention should be paid to its moderate skin irritation and severe eye damage, so appropriate protective measures should be taken during handling.

This product is an acidic phosphate ester (pH 1.5~3.0) and is moderately irritating to the skin (rabbit skin irritation index PII 2.0~4.0) and can cause severe damage to the eyes. During operation, chemically resistant gloves, protective goggles, and protective clothing must be worn. In terms of chemical stability, it is not resistant to strong alkalis; the phosphate ester bond is susceptible to hydrolysis under strongly alkaline conditions.
