MOA-9P (laureth phosphate), as an anionic phosphate ester surfactant, is widely used in multiple industries. However, its acidic phosphate ester structure gives it certain corrosiveness and irritation. According to the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS), this product is classified as a skin corrosive substance, with moderate skin irritation (rabbit skin irritation index PII 2.0–4.0), and can cause moderate to severe eye damage or even corneal injury. Therefore, personal protection during handling is the primary safety requirement.
In terms of toxicology, MOA-9P has low acute toxicity (rat oral LD₅₀ > 2000 mg/kg), and no skin sensitization was observed in the guinea pig maximization test; it is not a sensitizer. Environmentally, this product has low toxicity to aquatic organisms (zebrafish 96-hour LC₅₀ > 100 mg/L), and its 28-day biodegradation rate exceeds 80% (OECD 301B test method), making it readily biodegradable. However, direct discharge into water bodies without treatment should still be avoided.
In addition, MOA-9P possesses dual characteristics of nonionic and anionic surfactants, showing excellent compatibility in formulation systems. However, during storage and use, it is still necessary to keep away from incompatible materials such as strong oxidizers, strong acids, and alkalis to prevent chemical reactions that could cause product failure or safety hazards.

Although MOA-9P has low toxicity to aquatic organisms and is readily biodegradable, it still falls under chemical control regulations.
