The chemical name of Peregal O-15 (CAS: 68439-49-6) is fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene (15) ether, also known as AEO-15, Emulsifier O-15, and Leveling Agent O-15. Its molecular structure is formed by the condensation of C16-18 fatty alcohol with approximately 15 ethylene oxide units. It appears as a white to slightly yellow paste or solid, with a softening point of about 40-45°C.
This product has high purity active matter, with an active content of ≥99% and free alcohol content of ≤1%. It exhibits excellent stability to acids, alkalis, and hard water, and can withstand up to 200 g/L NaOH solution, maintaining stable performance over a wide pH range. As a nonionic surfactant, it can be well compounded with nonionic, anionic, cationic, and amphoteric auxiliaries, providing great flexibility in formulation design.
Peregal O-15 has an HLB value of approximately 14.5, a cloud point of 80-90°C, and a hydroxyl value of 60-70 mgKOH/g. It is a hydrophilic emulsifier, easily soluble in water and organic solvents such as ethanol and acetone. The surface tension is about 33 mN/m, and the critical micelle concentration (CMC) is about 0.03 g/L. It is characterized as low-foaming. These physicochemical parameters lay the foundation for its efficient and stable performance in various industrial applications.

Textile Dyeing and Printing – Leveling Agent and Emulsifier: In the pretreatment, dyeing, and finishing processes of fibers and their blended fabrics, Peregal O-15 acts as an efficient leveling agent to improve dye penetration and uniformity, effectively preventing uneven coloring and spots. Recommended dosage varies with bath ratio and dye type, typically 0.5-2 g/L (bath ratio 1:10-1:20).
Industrial Hard Surface Cleaning – Degreaser: Used as a key raw material in cleaning formulations for metalworking, mechanical equipment, and food industry hard surfaces, it exhibits excellent emulsifying, dispersing, and detergency properties for mineral oils and animal/vegetable fats, especially suitable for medium to high-temperature cleaning environments. Recommended dosage in cleaning formulations is 2-10%.
Cosmetics – Emulsifier for Creams and Lotions: As an O/W emulsifier, it is suitable for preparing creams, lotions, sunscreens, and skincare products, forming stable formulations with good skin feel. It can also be used for solubilizing fragrances and essential oils in water-based formulations. Recommended dosage is 1-5%.
Pesticide Formulations – Emulsifier: Widely used in emulsifiable concentrates and oil-in-water emulsions to effectively improve the spontaneous emulsification and dispersion of the drug solution in water, enhancing the utilization rate of the active ingredient. Recommended dosage in pesticide emulsifiable concentrates is 5-12%.
Other Applications: Used in leather processing as a degreasing and soaking agent; in the paper industry as a rewetting agent to improve paper hydrophilicity and hand feel; in coatings and ink systems as a wetting and dispersing agent for pigments and fillers to prevent floating and sedimentation.
Although this product has an acute oral toxicity LD50>2000 mg/kg (low toxicity chemical), direct contact can cause skin irritation (Category 2) and serious eye irritation (Category 2A). Protective gloves, clothing, and eye protection must be worn during handling. If accidentally gets into eyes, rinse immediately with running water for at least 15 minutes (remove contact lenses if present). Seek medical attention if irritation persists. This product has long-term persistent effects on aquatic organisms and must not be discharged into water environments. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from heat sources and open flames, and keep separately from strong oxidizers, strong acids, and strong alkalis.
