Detailed Description
Polyethylene Glycol PEG-200 (CAS No.: 25322-68-3) is a chemical raw material with high safety and is harmless to the human body when used under normal industrial operating procedures. Its toxicological data show that the acute oral LD50 in rats is greater than 2000 mg/kg, indicating a low toxicity level; the skin irritation index is only 0 to 0.5, essentially non-irritating; skin sensitization and genotoxicity tests are both negative. Nevertheless, good industrial hygiene practices should be followed during operation to minimize potential risks.
PEG-200 is hygroscopic and will absorb moisture when exposed to air for a long time, causing changes in product performance. Therefore, container sealing is critical in storage. The recommended storage temperature is 15°C to 30°C, stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse. Recommended storage containers are stainless steel, polyethylene, or carbon steel with epoxy resin lining, and should be kept away from incompatible substances such as strong acids and strong oxidizers.
During use, PEG-200 is chemically stable, resistant to acids, alkalis, and hard water, non-flammable and non-explosive, and does not react with most chemicals. However, in case of fire, high-temperature combustion or thermal decomposition may produce irritating or toxic gases. Firefighters should wear self-contained positive pressure breathing apparatus and full protective clothing. For spill handling, small spills should be absorbed and collected with inert absorbent materials; large spills need to be contained and prevented from entering sewers or water bodies.
