Its molecular structure is HO(C₂H₄O)ₐ(C₃H₆O)b(C₂H₄O)ₐH, where a≈12, b≈20, with a molecular weight of approximately 2200. The product appears as a colorless to slightly yellow transparent liquid, with CAS number 9003-11-6.

This product has a high HLB value (16), strong hydrophilicity, and is soluble in various solvents such as water, ethanol, and ether. The cloud point in a 1% aqueous solution is approximately 70°C, indicating good solubility and surface activity within room temperature to moderate temperature ranges. Its critical micelle concentration (CMC) is approximately 0.004% (w/v), meaning it can effectively reduce the surface tension of the system at extremely low concentrations.
