Span S-40 (Sorbitan monopalmitate) is a low-toxicity, low-irritation nonionic surfactant. According to toxicological data, the acute oral LD₅₀ in rats is greater than 10 g/kg, classifying it as practically non-toxic; the primary skin irritation index is 0, indicating no irritation; and it is non-mutagenic and non-teratogenic. Under normal use conditions, this product is safe for both operators and end users.

Despite its high safety, good industrial hygiene practices should still be observed during industrial operations. The main risk points are: eye contact may cause slight, transient discomfort; prolonged or repeated skin contact may lead to defatting; if dust is generated and inhaled during operation, it may also cause slight discomfort. Therefore, maintaining adequate ventilation and adopting appropriate personal protective measures during operation is necessary.

In terms of storage, this product is chemically stable and does not undergo hazardous polymerization reactions.
