Tween T-80 (Polyoxyethylene (20) sorbitan monooleate) is a classic non-ionic surfactant. According to the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS), this product is classified as a non-hazardous substance or mixture. It has mild properties and low toxicity to aquatic organisms, and is widely used in fields with high safety requirements such as pharmaceuticals, food, and cosmetics, fully demonstrating its good safety characteristics.
Although Tween T-80 itself has relatively high safety, precautions should still be taken during industrial operations: it is recommended to wear chemical protective gloves and goggles during operation to avoid direct contact with eyes and skin; use in a well-ventilated area to avoid prolonged inhalation of vapors or mists; after operation, thoroughly wash hands and exposed skin areas. The workplace should follow good industrial hygiene practices, prohibit eating and smoking, keep work surfaces clean, and avoid the formation of dust-air mixtures.
From an ecological perspective, this product has no significant ecotoxicity at recommended use and normal discharge concentrations and is biodegradable. However, it should be noted that large spills into water bodies can form a physical film on the surface, which may affect oxygen exchange and cause local hypoxia. Therefore, it is prohibited to discharge undiluted or untreated product directly into the environment or drainage system.

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Contain and absorb the spilled liquid with inert absorbent materials (such as sand, vermiculite, universal absorbent). Collect the contaminated material in a sealable waste container and dispose of according to local regulations. Prevent the spill from entering drainage systems, surface water, and groundwater.
Suitable extinguishing media: water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing when fighting fire. Fire may produce irritating or toxic gases such as carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. Use water spray to cool unaffected containers.
