Styrenated phenol polyoxyethylene ether 600-2 (CAS: 99734-09-5) is a light yellow viscous liquid to waxy solid at room temperature, with stable chemical properties, resistant to acids, alkalis, and hard water. However, according to the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS), this product is classified as Skin irritation (Category 2, H315) and Serious eye damage/irritation (Category 2, H319). Do not take it lightly during operation. Its flash point is above 150°C, so it is not classified as a flammable liquid, but it may still generate combustible vapors at high temperatures; keep away from open flames.
An important physical property of this product is that it may solidify or increase in viscosity at low temperatures, which is a normal physical change and does not affect the intrinsic quality of the product. Simply warm it up appropriately at room temperature and stir evenly before use to restore fluidity. Additionally, the product has very low water sensitivity and is not prone to moisture absorption or caking in humid environments, but the container should still be sealed during storage to prevent contamination.
Personal Protection:
Storage Conditions:
| Contact Type | Treatment Measures |
|---|---|
| Skin contact | Immediately remove contaminated clothing, rinse thoroughly with plenty of water and mild soap for at least 15 minutes. If irritation persists, seek medical advice. |
| Eye contact | Immediately lift eyelids, flush thoroughly with running water or saline for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses if possible. Seek immediate medical attention. |
| Inhalation | Move quickly to fresh air, keep airway clear. Administer oxygen if breathing is difficult; if breathing stops, perform artificial respiration and seek medical help. |
| Ingestion | Rinse mouth, do NOT induce vomiting. Seek immediate medical attention and present safety data sheet or label. |
| Leak treatment | For small spills, absorb with inert materials such as sand, vermiculite, etc., collect in a closed container for safe disposal. For large spills, dike and contain, transfer with explosion-proof pump. Avoid discharge into sewers or waterways. |
In applications such as pesticide formulations, emulsion polymerization, and textile auxiliaries, 600-2 and 600-1 can provide different hydrophilic-lipophilic balance ranges by adjusting the number of ethylene oxide adducts. Combining the two can form a denser and more stable interfacial film, resulting in significant synergistic effects. If the product solidifies at low temperatures before use, simply warm it to room temperature and stir evenly for normal feeding; the emulsifying and dispersing performance will not be affected.
