Tristyrylphenol ethoxylates 600-2 and 600-1 series are nonionic surfactants, prepared by the addition polymerization of ethylene oxide with tristyrylphenol as the hydrophobic group. By adjusting the number of ethylene oxide adducts, they provide different hydrophilic-lipophilic balance (HLB) ranges. When used in combination, they can form a denser and more stable interfacial film, producing significant synergistic effects. With the strong adsorption and anchoring ability derived from the multi-phenyl ring structure in the molecule, this product plays an irreplaceable core adjuvant function in many demanding industrial fields.
In formulation systems, this product can significantly reduce dynamic surface tension, promote rapid spreading and penetration of liquids on solid surfaces or plant leaves, and at the same time exhibits excellent tolerance to inorganic salts, acids, alkalis, and hard water media, maintaining activity stability in complex formulation systems. Its waxy solid physical characteristics make it easy to store and transport, and it is not prone to moisture absorption and caking. It is readily soluble in water and polar organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, and acetone, and also has good dispersibility in non-polar media like mineral oils.
| Application Industry | Specific Processes and Formulations | Function of the Product |
|---|---|---|
| Agricultural Chemicals | Emulsifiable concentrate (EC), emulsion in water (EW), microemulsion (ME), suspension concentrate (SC) and other pesticide formulation systems | Acts as a core emulsifier and dispersant, reducing oil-water interfacial tension, promoting the spreading and penetration of the liquid on plant leaves, improving the thermodynamic stability and biological activity of the formulation |
| Polymer Emulsion Polymerization | Emulsion polymerization systems such as acrylate, styrene-acrylic, vinyl acetate-acrylic, etc. | Provides excellent emulsification, dispersion, and stabilization, controls latex particle size and distribution, improves the mechanical and chemical stability of the synthetic emulsion |
| Textile Printing and Dyeing | Leveling, dispersing, scouring and pretreatment processes | Used as a component of leveling agents and penetrants, effectively disperses dyes, prevents color spots, improves leveling and color fastness; in pretreatment, enhances fabric wetting and scouring effects |
| Industrial Cleaning | Metal cleaning, hard surface cleaning, high-efficiency degreaser formulations | Acts as a powerful emulsifying and detergency component, quickly stripping mineral oils and organic soils, resistant to acids and alkalis, easy to rinse, suitable for room temperature and heated cleaning systems |
| Papermaking and Leather | Papermaking: deinking, internal sizing, coating processes; Leather: soaking, degreasing, fatliquoring processes | Used as a deinking agent and dispersant in papermaking; in leather processing, helps emulsify and penetrate oils, making the leather soft and plump |
For different industry needs, it is recommended to flexibly combine the 600-2 and 600-1 series to leverage their synergistic advantages. In pesticide formulations, adjusting the ratio of the two according to the polarity of the oil phase and the required HLB value can significantly improve the long-term stability of the formulation. In emulsion polymerization, this product can effectively control the latex particle size distribution and improve the mechanical stability and storage life of the final emulsion.
If the product solidifies or its viscosity increases in low-temperature environments, this is a normal physical phenomenon. Simply warm it appropriately at room temperature and stir evenly before use to restore fluidity, without affecting any intrinsic quality. It is recommended to store at 5–35°C and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
This product has low toxicity but is irritating (GHS classification: Skin irritation Category 2, Serious eye irritation Category 2). During operation, wear nitrile rubber protective gloves and chemical safety goggles, and maintain good ventilation in the workplace. Avoid discharge into sewers or water bodies. In case of leakage, adsorb and collect with inert materials such as sand. Flash point is above 150°C. Although it is not classified as a flammable liquid, it may produce flammable vapors at high temperatures, so it should still be stored away from fire sources and strong oxidizing agents.
