Answer
2026-05-17 官方文档 蓖麻油聚氧乙烯醚EL-10

Castor Oil Polyoxyethylene Ether EL-10 is a nonionic surfactant with excellent W/O emulsifying performance as its core advantage, along with outstanding wetting, dispersing, and stability against acid, alkali, and hard water. It is widely used in multiple industrial fields such as pesticides, textiles, cosmetics, and metal processing.

Detailed Description

Castor Oil Polyoxyethylene Ether EL-10 (PEG-10 Castor Oil, CAS No.: 61791-12-6) is a nonionic surfactant produced by ethoxylation of natural castor oil. It appears as a light yellow to yellow transparent oily liquid. Its molecular structure contains both hydrophobic fatty acid long chains and hydrophilic polyoxyethylene segments, giving it unique amphiphilic properties.

The most prominent feature of this product is its excellent water-in-oil (W/O) emulsifying ability, which effectively reduces the oil-water interfacial tension and forms stable and fine emulsion structures. At the same time, the product has good wetting and dispersing properties, significantly promoting the uniform dispersion of solid substances such as pigments and particles in the system, preventing sedimentation and flocculation. Under complex working conditions, its chemical stability against acids, alkalis, and hard water allows it to maintain high activity even in extreme pH environments or in the presence of multivalent metal ions, without deactivation or precipitation.

From a safety perspective, EL-10 is a non-hazardous and non-flammable liquid (flash point >150°C) with low toxicity. However, it may cause mild irritation to the eyes and skin, and repeated contact may lead to skin defatting. Appropriate protective equipment should be worn during handling.

Application Suggestions

Pesticide EC Emulsifier: Used in emulsifiable concentrate (EC) formulations of pesticides such as beta-cypermethrin and abamectin, to improve emulsion stability, spreading, and penetration, enhancing efficacy. It is recommended to be used in combination with anionic emulsifiers as a nonionic emulsifier.

Cosmetic W/O Creams and Lotions: Used in cold creams, sunscreens, and skincare lotions to provide emulsification and emollient effects, improving skin feel and product stability. Due to its lipophilic nature, it is particularly suitable for water-in-oil emulsion systems.

Textile Synthetic Fiber Oils: Provides smoothness, antistatic properties, and cohesion to fibers during spinning and post-processing of polyester, nylon, etc., reducing breakage and fuzz.

Metalworking Fluids: Acts as an emulsifying and lubricating component in emulsified cutting fluids, grinding fluids, and rust-preventive oils, with anti-rust functionality, suitable for processing ferrous metals and some non-ferrous metals.

Leather Fatliquoring Agent: Used in leather fatliquoring process, penetrates between leather fibers, imparting softness and fullness to the leather, improving flex resistance and waterproofing.

Coatings and Inks: Functions as an efficient dispersant for organic pigments (e.g., phthalocyanine blue, azo pigments), reducing system viscosity, enhancing color strength, and storage stability.

Industrial Hard Surface Cleaners: Exhibits excellent emulsifying and solubilizing ability for mineral oil and grease stains, suitable for cleaning hard surfaces such as metal and plastic.

Precautions

  • Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse, with temperature controlled between 0°C and 40°C, away from direct sunlight.
  • Keep containers tightly closed, away from strong oxidizers, strong acids, and other incompatible substances, to prevent moisture absorption and contamination.
  • Wear chemical safety goggles and chemical-resistant gloves (e.g., nitrile rubber) during handling, and use in well-ventilated areas.
  • Causes mild eye and skin irritation; avoid direct contact. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
  • Although the product is non-flammable, it may decompose at high temperatures or in flames, releasing irritating gases. Use water mist, dry powder, carbon dioxide, etc., as extinguishing media.
