The usage of Castor Oil Polyoxyethylene Ether EL-80 varies depending on the application field, generally following the principle of "small test first, then scale up". The recommended dosage covers a wide range of 0.05% to 12%, depending on the formulation system and process requirements.
Detailed Description
Castor Oil Polyoxyethylene Ether EL-80 is a nonionic surfactant with high HLB value (15.5~16.5). It appears as a light yellow paste to solid at room temperature. Since it is easily soluble in water to form a transparent solution and has excellent stability against acids, alkalis, hard water, and electrolytes, its usage methods are flexible and diverse. When used as an emulsifier, it can be directly added to the oil phase, and water is slowly added with stirring for phase inversion emulsification; alternatively, it can be pre-prepared as a 20% to 30% aqueous solution for standby, facilitating production operations and metering.
This product exhibits excellent compounding compatibility in various formulations and can synergize with nonionic, anionic, cationic surfactants as well as most organic solvents and auxiliaries. Its low foaming property can reduce or even eliminate the need for defoamers in actual applications, making it especially suitable for foam-sensitive processes. It is strongly recommended to conduct laboratory small-scale tests before use to determine the optimal dosage and process parameters for the specific system.

Application Suggestions
The following are the recommended dosages and usage methods for major application fields:
1. As Emulsifier (General)
- Recommended dosage: 2% to 10% of the oil phase weight
- Usage: Directly add to the oil phase, slowly add water with stirring for phase inversion emulsification; or pre-prepare as a 20% to 30% aqueous solution for standby
2. Industrial Cleaning Agent Additive
- Recommended dosage: 1% to 5% of the total formula weight
- Usage: Used in combination with dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid, fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether, etc., to significantly enhance oil removal, dirt removal, and dispersion capabilities
3. Textile Auxiliaries
- Spinning oil component: 0.1% to 0.5% of the oil working fluid
- Leveling agent: Add 0.05% to 0.2% (based on dye bath weight)
- Use: Provides smoothness, antistatic property, improves fiber hand feel, prevents color spots
4. Pesticide Emulsifier
- Recommended dosage: 5% to 12%
- Usage: Added when formulating mixed solvent emulsifiable concentrates, often compounded with anionic emulsifiers to obtain stable emulsion performance
5. Metalworking Fluids
- Recommended dosage: 1% to 3% of the total formula weight
- Use: As emulsifying and lubricating component, improving emulsion stability and anti-rust synergy
Precautions
- Priority for small-scale test: Be sure to conduct small-scale verification before use to determine the optimal dosage and formulation process conditions, avoiding losses from direct large-scale batching.
- Operation protection: It is recommended to wear nitrile rubber gloves and chemical safety goggles during operation to avoid direct skin and eye contact. Thoroughly wash hands after operation.
- Storage conditions: Store in a cool (5~40°C), dry, well-ventilated warehouse, keep container tightly sealed, avoid softening and caking at high temperatures or hardening of paste at low temperatures. The product is hygroscopic; after opening, reseal as soon as possible.
- Shelf life: Under unopened conditions, the shelf life is 24 months from the date of manufacture.
- Compounding note: Avoid contact with strong oxidizers (such as peroxides, permanganates). Generally no adverse reactions when compounded with anionic, cationic, and other nonionic surfactants.
