Castor Oil Ethoxylate EL-80 is a nonionic surfactant used as an O/W emulsifier, suitable for emulsifying mineral oils, animal and vegetable oils and fats.
Castor Oil Polyoxyethylene Ether EL-80 is a nonionic surfactant produced by the condensation of natural castor oil with ethylene oxide under catalysis. At room temperature it appears as a pale yellow paste to solid with a high HLB value, combining outstanding water solubility, emulsifying power, dispersibility and antistatic properties. It is widely used in textile auxiliaries, pesticide emulsifiers, industrial cleaning, metalworking fluids and personal care products.
Key Features and Advantages
Outstanding emulsifying and solubilizing power: The high degree of ethoxylation imparts a high HLB value, effectively emulsifying aromatic, aliphatic and mineral oils into stable O/W emulsions suitable for various industrial systems.
Excellent wetting and penetration: Rapidly reduces liquid-solid interfacial tension, promoting spreading and penetration of treatment agents on fibers, metals and other substrates.
Hard water, acid and alkali resistance: Maintains good activity in hard water, weak acid and weak alkali media, suitable for complex process conditions with reliable performance.
Low foaming: Low foam at working temperatures for easy rinsing, reducing defoamer usage, significantly better than most conventional nonionic surfactants.
Antistatic and smoothing properties: The long-chain fatty acid ester structure and polyoxyethylene ether chain work synergistically to provide good antistatic and softening effects, suitable for synthetic fiber spinning oils and fabric finishing.
Excellent compatibility: Compatible with nonionic, anionic and cationic surfactants and most organic solvents and auxiliaries for synergistic formulations with strong adaptability.

Application Guidelines
As an emulsifier: Recommended dosage is 2%-10% of oil phase weight. Add directly to the oil phase, slowly add water with stirring for phase inversion, or pre-prepare a 20%-30% aqueous stock solution.
Industrial cleaning additive: Recommended 1%-5% of total cleaning formulation. Compatible with dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid and fatty alcohol ethoxylates, significantly improving oil removal and dispersing power.
Textile auxiliary: For synthetic fiber spinning oil, typically 0.1%-0.5% of working solution. As a leveling agent, add 0.05%-0.2% relative to dyebath weight, depending on formulation design.
Pesticide emulsifier: Typically 5%-12% for mixed-solvent EC formulations, commonly blended with anionic emulsifiers for stable emulsion performance.
Metalworking fluids: As an emulsifying and lubricating component, 1%-3% of total formulation, helping improve emulsion stability and anti-rust synergy.
Conduct a small-scale trial before use to determine optimal dosage and process conditions.
Packaging and Storage
Packaging: Standard packaging is 200kg galvanized iron drum or new plastic drum. Custom packaging of 50kg plastic drums or 25kg paper-plastic composite bags (PE-lined) available upon request.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse away from fire and heat sources. Protect from sunlight and rain. Storage temperature: 5-40°C. Prevent softening/clumping at high temperatures or paste hardening at low temperatures. Shelf life: 24 months from date of manufacture in unopened condition.
Transportation: Non-hazardous chemical. Handle as general chemical goods. Load and unload gently to prevent packaging damage. In case of leakage, absorb with sand, sawdust, etc., collect in sealed containers, and dispose according to local regulations.
Castor Oil Ethoxylate EL-80 Applications
Castor Oil Ethoxylate EL-80 is a high-HLB nonionic surfactant with excellent emulsifying, dispersing, solubilizing and antistatic properties. Its main applications include:
Pesticide emulsifier: Used as a primary or co-emulsifier in EC, EW and ME pesticide formulations, providing stable emulsion formation and good electrolyte tolerance. Typical dosage: 5%-12%.
Textile auxiliaries: Used in spinning oils, leveling agents and fabric softeners, providing lubrication, antistatic and softening effects. Typical dosage: 0.1%-0.5% in oil formulations.
Industrial cleaning: Incorporated into metal degreasers and hard surface cleaners as an emulsifying and dispersing component. Typical dosage: 1%-5%.
Metalworking fluids: Serves as an emulsifier and lubricity additive in soluble oil and semi-synthetic cutting fluids. Typical dosage: 1%-3%.
Cosmetics: Used as a solubilizer for fragrances and essential oils, and as an O/W emulsifier in creams and lotions. Typical dosage: 0.5%-3%.
Emulsion polymerization: Acts as a stabilizer in vinyl acetate, acrylate and styrene-acrylic emulsion polymerization. Typical dosage: 1%-4% based on monomer.
