MOA-5 (AEO-5), with the chemical name C12-14 fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene (5) ether (CAS No.: 68439-50-9), is a classic nonionic surfactant produced by Haian Guoli Chemical Co., Ltd. The synergistic effect of ether bonds and hydroxyl groups in its molecular structure endows the product with excellent emulsifying ability, outstanding wetting and penetrating properties, efficient dispersion and solubilization effects, as well as excellent chemical stability and broad formulation compatibility, making it an indispensable key component in many industrial formulations.
With its balanced comprehensive performance, MOA-5 plays a "versatile" role in many industries. In textile printing and dyeing, it serves as a core component of pretreatment scouring agents, dyeing leveling agents, and finishing auxiliaries; in leather processing, it is used for degreasing, soaking, and fatliquoring processes; in industrial cleaning, whether for removing oil from metal parts or daily cleaning of hard surfaces, it exhibits excellent wetting and degreasing capabilities. Meanwhile, this product can also be used as a pesticide emulsifier, a wetting dispersant for coatings and inks, and a core surfactant component in household cleaning products.
| Application Industry | Specific Process/Product | Function |
|---|---|---|
| Textile Printing and Dyeing | Pretreatment scouring agent, dyeing leveling agent, soaping agent, finishing auxiliary | Remove oil and impurities from fabric, improve dye penetration and leveling effect, ensure uniform and full dyeing |
| Leather Processing | Degreasing, soaking, fatliquoring processes | Acts as efficient penetrant and emulsifier, helping chemicals quickly penetrate into leather fibers, improving softness and fullness |
| Metal Cleaning | Industrial metal parts cleaning (spray and immersion processes) | Quickly wet metal surfaces, emulsify and disperse oil, cutting fluid and polishing wax residues, low foam and easy to rinse |
| Hard Surface Cleaning | Formulations for household and industrial hard surface cleaning such as kitchen and bathroom | Good wetting and stripping ability for grease and stains, combined with additives to achieve rapid cleaning |
| Household Washing | Daily chemical products such as laundry liquid, dishwashing liquid, dishwashing detergent | Provide excellent degreasing and decontamination performance, moderate foam characteristics, easy to rinse |
| Pesticide Emulsification | Formulations of pesticide emulsifiable concentrate, microemulsion, and water emulsion | Uniformly disperse pesticide technical material in water to form stable emulsion, improve the spreading and control effect of the spray liquid |
| Coatings and Inks | Water-based coatings and water-based ink systems | Act as wetting dispersant, promote uniform dispersion of pigments and fillers, improve storage stability and application leveling |
MOA-5/AEO-5, as a nonionic surfactant, has broad formulation compatibility and can be used synergistically with anionic, cationic, and other nonionic surfactants to flexibly meet different formulation design requirements. It is recommended that formulation engineers optimize the formulation based on specific application scenarios, taking into account its HLB value and cloud point characteristics. The product maintains stable performance in acidic and alkaline environments, and has outstanding hard water resistance, making it less prone to precipitation with calcium and magnesium ions in water, particularly suitable for industrial applications with complex water quality conditions.
This product is classified as a skin irritant (Category 2) and serious eye irritant (Category 2A). During operation, wear protective gloves, goggles, and protective clothing to avoid direct contact with skin and eyes. Keep the workplace well-ventilated. The product should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse, away from heat sources, open flames, and strong oxidizers. Containers must be kept sealed. In case of skin or eye contact, immediately rinse with plenty of water, and seek medical attention if irritation persists.
