MOA-5/AEO-5 is a nonionic surfactant produced by polymerizing 5 moles of ethylene oxide with C12-14 fatty alcohol as the raw material. Known for its balanced emulsifying, wetting, dispersing, and penetrating properties, it is hailed as a "universal adjuvant."

Detailed Description

MOA-5, with the chemical name C12-14 fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene (5) ether (CAS: 68439-50-9), also known as lauryl alcohol polyoxyethylene (5) ether or dodecyl polyoxyethylene (5) ether, is produced by Hai'an Guoli Chemical Co., Ltd. This classic nonionic surfactant features a molecular structure where ether bonds (-CH₂CH₂O-) and terminal hydroxyl groups (-OH) work synergistically, endowing it with excellent emulsifying ability, superior wetting and penetrating performance, efficient dispersing and solubilizing effects, and outstanding chemical stability across a wide range of acidic and alkaline environments.

In appearance, MOA-5/AEO-5 is a colorless to slightly yellow transparent liquid with good fluidity and strong compatibility. Its nonionic nature makes it unaffected by calcium and magnesium ions in water, providing excellent hard water resistance and preventing precipitate formation. Additionally, it can be compounded with anionic, cationic, and other nonionic surfactants, offering broad formulation compatibility to flexibly meet various industrial formulation design requirements.

In terms of safety, this product is classified as Skin Irritant (Category 2) and Serious Eye Damage/Eye Irritant (Category 2A), with the GHS pictogram GHS07 and the signal word "Warning." Protective gloves, goggles, and protective clothing should be worn during operation to avoid direct contact with skin and eyes.

Application Recommendations

With its balanced comprehensive performance, MOA-5/AEO-5 is widely applied in the following seven major fields:

  • Textile Printing and Dyeing Auxiliaries — Used as a key component in pretreatment scouring agents, leveling agents, and soaping agents, effectively removing oil and impurities from fabrics, improving dye penetration and leveling effect.
  • Leather Processing — Acts as a penetrating agent and emulsifier in degreasing, soaking, and fatliquoring processes, enhancing leather softness and fullness.
  • Metal Cleaning Agents — Rapidly wets metal surfaces, emulsifies and disperses oil, grease, and cutting fluid residues, suitable for spray and immersion cleaning processes.
  • Hard Surface Cleaners — Provides excellent wetting and stripping ability against grease and dirt in kitchen and bathroom cleaning products.
  • Household Detergents — Serves as a core surfactant component in laundry liquids, dishwashing liquids, etc., offering superior degreasing and detergency with moderate foam and easy rinsing.
  • Pesticide Emulsification — Used as an emulsifier in emulsifiable concentrates, microemulsions, and emulsion concentrates to uniformly disperse pesticide active ingredients, improving spray adhesion and control efficacy.
  • Coatings and Inks — Functions as a wetting and dispersing agent in water-based systems, promoting uniform dispersion of pigments and fillers, improving storage stability and leveling.

Precautions

Safe Handling: Wear protective gloves, goggles, and protective clothing during operation. If skin contact occurs, wash with plenty of soap and water (P302+P352); if in eyes, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes, remove contact lenses if present and continue rinsing (P305+P351+P338). If irritation persists, seek medical attention (P337+P313).

Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse, keep containers sealed, and away from heat, open flames, and strong oxidizers. The product remains stable under unopened conditions.

Transport Information: This product is not classified as dangerous goods. Transport under general chemical conditions, avoid severe impact, inversion, and prolonged exposure to sunlight during transportation.
