Polyether L-44 (Poloxamer 124) is a nonionic polyether surfactant that is not classified as a hazardous chemical. It is non-flammable, has extremely low acute oral toxicity (rat LD₅₀ > 5,000 mg/kg, practically non-toxic grade), and a primary skin irritation index of less than 0.5, indicating no irritation or sensitization. However, the product may cause mild to moderate eye irritation (reversible damage), which is the primary area of concern during use.
During operation, wear chemical safety goggles, appropriate protective gloves and clothing, and use in a well-ventilated area. Avoid inhalation of aerosols or vapors generated by heating. Thoroughly wash hands and exposed skin after handling. Eating, drinking, and smoking are prohibited in the work area. Although the product is not classified as dangerous, direct contact with eyes, mucous membranes, and open wounds should be avoided.
For storage, keep in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse, away from heat sources, sparks, and open flames. Keep containers tightly sealed to prevent moisture absorption and contamination. Storage temperature should not exceed 40°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Do not store together with strong oxidizing agents, strong acids, or strong bases. Inspect container integrity and label clarity before use.
When used in polyurethane foam systems, the addition amount must be precisely controlled to ensure uniform cell structure. In industrial cleaning formulations, utilize its low-foaming characteristics to suit high-pressure spraying and circulation cleaning processes, avoiding unnecessary foam introduction from excessive agitation. When used as an emulsifier in pesticide formulations, pay attention to compatibility adjustment with other auxiliaries. In cosmetic formulations, it is recommended to conduct small-scale compatibility tests first. Waste disposal must comply with local environmental regulations; do not discharge arbitrarily. When thermally decomposed, the product may produce irritating fumes; avoid open operation in high-temperature environments.
