In actual operation, Tween T-80 may cause mild irritation to the skin and eyes upon prolonged or heavy exposure, especially under high temperature or high concentration conditions. In addition, the product has a certain hygroscopicity; if the seal is not proper after opening, it may absorb moisture from the air and cause performance changes. Although the product itself is not flammable, dust-air mixtures formed under specific conditions may pose potential risks.

In case of a spill, wear appropriate personal protective equipment, contain and absorb the spilled liquid with inert absorbent materials (such as sand, vermiculite, universal absorbent). Collect the contaminated materials in a sealable waste container and dispose of them in accordance with local regulations. Take care to prevent the spill from entering drainage systems, surface water, and groundwater. Large spills may form a physical film on the water surface, affecting oxygen exchange in the water body.
Suitable extinguishing media include water fog, alcohol-resistant foam, dry powder, and carbon dioxide. Firefighters must wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full-body protective clothing. The fire may produce irritant or toxic gases such as carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide, so protection is necessary. Use water spray to cool unaffected containers in the vicinity.
Tween T-80 has low toxicity to aquatic organisms, with no significant ecotoxicity at recommended usage and normal discharge concentrations, and is biodegradable according to its raw material composition. However, large spills into water bodies may still affect local oxygen exchange due to the formation of a surface film, which should be avoided as much as possible. It is strictly prohibited to directly discharge undiluted or untreated product into the environment. Waste disposal must comply with local regulations.
