Peretex O-3 is irritating to humans (skin, eyes), harmful if swallowed, and harmful to aquatic life. Do not discharge into water bodies.
Detailed Description
Peretex O-3 (fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene (3) ether) is a non-ionic surfactant. It is relatively safe under normal industrial use conditions, but not completely harmless. According to the GHS (Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals), this product is classified as Skin irritant (Category 2) and Serious eye irritant (Category 2A), with the signal word "Warning".
From a human health perspective, Peretex O-3 primarily poses hazards through contact: prolonged or repeated skin contact may cause irritation; eye contact can cause significant irritation; ingestion may cause health damage. It should be noted that this product is not a highly toxic substance and can be safely handled with appropriate protective equipment (nitrile rubber gloves, chemical safety goggles, protective clothing) and good ventilation.
From an environmental perspective, Peretex O-3 is classified as Hazardous to the aquatic environment - Acute Hazard Category 3 (H402: Harmful to aquatic life). This means the product is toxic to aquatic organisms such as fish, algae, and aquatic invertebrates. Do not discharge the product or packaging waste into drains, waterways, or soil. However, fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether surfactants generally have a certain degree of biodegradability in the environment and will not cause persistent pollution under proper disposal conditions.
Safety Protection Recommendations
Personal Protective Measures
- Hand protection: Wear chemical-resistant protective gloves such as nitrile rubber
- Eye protection: Wear chemical safety goggles
- Body protection: Wear protective work clothing
- Operating procedures: Do not eat, drink, or smoke during use; thoroughly wash hands and exposed skin after handling
- Ventilation requirements: Ensure good ventilation at the workplace
Emergency Treatment Points
- Skin contact: Immediately remove contaminated clothing, rinse skin with soap and water for at least 15 minutes
- Eye contact: Immediately rinse with plenty of water or saline solution for at least 15 minutes, keeping eyelids open, and seek medical attention promptly
- Ingestion: Rinse mouth with water, do not induce vomiting, seek medical attention immediately
- Spill handling: Collect with inert absorbent material (e.g., sand), place in a sealed container and dispose of according to regulations, avoid release into water bodies
Environmental Control
- Waste product and contaminated containers must be disposed of by a qualified professional waste disposal agency
- Do not discharge into drains, waterways, or soil
- Store in tightly closed containers, away from heat sources and incompatible materials (strong oxidizing agents, strong acids, strong bases)
