Answer
2026-05-17 官方文档 OS-15(AEO-15)

OS-15 (AEO-15) is a nonionic surfactant primarily composed of fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene (15) ether. It appears as a white waxy solid at room temperature and exhibits excellent emulsifying, wetting, dispersing, and solubilizing properties. It is widely used in various fields such as industrial cleaning, textile printing and dyeing, papermaking, leather, cosmetics, and pesticides.

Detailed Description

OS-15 (AEO-15), with the chemical name Fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene (15) ether, also known as Peregal OS-15, Peregal O-15, C12-14 alcohol polyoxyethylene (15) ether, polyoxyethylene (15) dodecyl to tetradecyl ether, has a CAS number of 58265-74-0. The product appears as a white waxy solid and is a typical nonionic surfactant. The polyoxyethylene chain segment in its molecular structure provides excellent hydrophilicity, while the fatty alcohol part offers good lipophilicity, working together to exhibit efficient interfacial activity in various systems.

The core advantages of OS-15 lie in its strong resistance to acid and alkali stability and excellent hard water resistance — it maintains structural integrity and stable performance over a wide pH range, is insensitive to calcium and magnesium ions, and works efficiently under hard water conditions. At the same time, it has good compatibility and can be used in combination with anionic, cationic, and other nonionic surfactants to achieve synergistic effects, greatly expanding its flexibility and application range in formulation design.

Application Suggestions

With its versatility, OS-15 has mature application solutions in the following areas:

  • Industrial and Household Detergents: As an efficient nonionic surfactant, it significantly enhances detergency, emulsification, and dispersion capabilities, suitable for liquid laundry detergents, dishwashing liquids, and hard surface cleaning formulations.
  • Textile Printing and Dyeing: Used as a leveling agent, with excellent penetration and leveling properties, it helps dyes to uniformly absorb on fibers, reducing color spots and color differences, and improving dyeing quality.
  • Coatings and Inks: As a dispersant, it provides good dispersion and stabilization for solid particles such as pigments and fillers, preventing agglomeration and sedimentation.
  • Paper Deinking: Promotes ink detachment, emulsification, and dispersion during waste paper deinking processes, improving fiber yield and pulp brightness.
  • Leather Processing: Used in soaking, degreasing, and fatliquoring processes to enhance penetration and emulsification effects, making the leather soft, full, and with good feel.
  • Metal Surface Cleaning: Effectively removes oil stains, cutting fluids, polishing pastes, and other contaminants from metal surfaces, with better results when combined with ultrasonic or spray cleaning.
  • Cosmetics: As an O/W emulsifier in creams and lotions, it provides a fine and stable emulsifying system and gives a good application feel.
  • Pesticide Formulations: As an emulsifier and wetting agent, it enhances the dispersion and wetting spreading ability of active ingredients in water, improving adhesion and penetration of the spray liquid.

Precautions

OS-15 is classified as skin irritant (H315) and serious eye irritant (H319), and it also has chronic aquatic toxicity (H412). During operation, be sure to wear impermeable gloves (e.g., nitrile gloves) and chemical safety goggles to avoid direct contact with skin and eyes. The product should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse at temperatures between 5°C and 35°C, avoiding freezing. In case of skin contact, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap for at least 15 minutes; if it gets into the eyes, rinse with plenty of running water or saline solution for 15-20 minutes and seek medical attention immediately. Do not discharge undiluted product directly into water bodies or drains.
