Polypropylene glycol PPG-400 (CAS: 25322-69-4) is a viscous liquid with low hygroscopicity, but prolonged exposure to air may still cause moisture absorption, affecting product quality. Therefore, keeping the container tightly sealed is the primary storage principle. It is recommended to use corrosion-resistant, well-sealed containers such as stainless steel, polyethylene, or resin-lined iron drums.
The storage environment should be away from fire sources and heat, and equipped with appropriate fire-fighting equipment. Although PPG-400 has a high flash point (closed cup approx. 220–230°C) and is not a flammable liquid, it may still form combustible vapors under high temperature or specific conditions. Therefore, a no-smoking and no-open-flame sign should be posted in the storage area.
In addition, PPG-400 should be stored separately from incompatible substances such as strong oxidizing agents, strong acids, and strong bases to prevent hazardous reactions. The warehouse should be equipped with spill containment facilities to handle accidental leaks.
| Storage Parameter | Specific Requirement |
|---|---|
| Recommended Storage Temperature | 0–40°C |
| Packaging Container Material | Stainless steel, polyethylene, resin-lined iron drum |
| Shelf Life after Opening | No less than 12 months (under original sealed condition) |
| Flash Point (Closed Cup) | Approx. 220–230°C |
| Incompatible Substances | Strong oxidizing agents, strong acids, strong bases |
To maximize product shelf life, it is recommended to follow the "first in, first out" principle for inventory. After each use, immediately seal the container to minimize the time the product is exposed to air. If the product shows significant color deepening or transparency changes after long-term storage, it is recommended to perform a small sample test before putting it into use.
