The storage of polypropylene glycol PPG-400 requires three key considerations: moisture prevention, temperature control, and isolation. The product has certain hygroscopicity. If exposed to air for a long time, it will absorb moisture, leading to quality degradation. Therefore, packaging containers must be kept sealed. After opening, use as soon as possible and reseal immediately. The product is packaged in clean and dry galvanized iron drums or IBC totes. Under sealed original containers and appropriate temperature, the shelf life is at least 12 months.
The storage environment should be a cool, well-ventilated warehouse, avoiding direct sunlight and high temperature. At the same time, it must be kept away from fire, heat sources, and other potential ignition risks. Although the product has a high flash point (closed cup approx. 220–230°C) and is not classified as a flammable liquid, combustible vapors may still form under high temperature conditions. Therefore, a no-smoking or no-open-flame sign should be posted in the storage area, and appropriate fire extinguishing equipment (such as water mist, foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide fire extinguishers) should be provided.
The product is chemically stable, but to ensure safety, it should be stored separately from incompatible substances such as strong oxidizers, strong acids, and strong bases to prevent dangerous reactions. It is recommended to use anticorrosive, well-sealed containers such as stainless steel drums, polyethylene drums, or resin-lined iron drums, and equip with spill containment facilities in case of accidental leaks.
