Stearyl Polyoxyethylene Ether SG-10 (CAS: 9004-99-3), chemical name Polyoxyethylene (10) Stearate, contains about 10 ethylene oxide addition units in its molecular structure, with a molecular weight of approximately 725. This product is a classic nonionic fatty acid polyoxyethylene ester surfactant. The synergistic effect of the hydrophilic polyoxyethylene chain segment and the lipophilic stearate group provides excellent O/W emulsifying ability and wide formulation compatibility.
The product appears as a white to slightly yellow solid or paste, with a melting point range of 35-40°C. Its kinematic viscosity at 40°C is approximately 50-80 mPa·s. It is easily soluble in polar solvents such as water, ethanol, and acetone. The pH of a 1% aqueous solution is between 5.0 and 7.0. It is chemically stable, resistant to acids, alkalis, and hard water. The cloud point range is 45-55°C, making it a low-foaming product. Its penetrating power is ≥300 seconds (0.1% aqueous solution), surface tension is about 31 mN/m, and critical micelle concentration is about 0.06%.

Based on the HLB value (13.5) and physicochemical properties of SG-10, this product is particularly suitable for the following scenarios: as an O/W emulsifier for cosmetic creams/lotions, with recommended dosage of 1%-5%; as a leveling agent and softener in textile printing and dyeing, dosage 0.5%-3%; as an emulsifier component in pesticide emulsifiable concentrate formulations to ensure rapid emulsification and dispersion of active ingredients; as a stabilizer in emulsion polymerization to control particle size distribution. Due to its cloud point of 45-55°C and low-foaming nature, it performs prominently in industrial cleaning and other scenarios requiring low-foaming properties.
In terms of compatibility, SG-10 can be well compounded with various anionic, cationic, and nonionic surfactants, broadening the performance window of the formulation. Storage is recommended at temperatures not exceeding 40°C, avoiding moisture absorption and caking.
