Peregal O-25 is a nonionic fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether surfactant with high HLB value (16~17). It appears as a white to light yellow solid, with a cloud point above 100°C, and exhibits excellent hydrophilic emulsification, acid and alkali resistance, and compounding properties.

Detailed Description

Peregal O-25, chemically named fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene (25) ether, with CAS number 68439-49-6, molecular formula C16-18H33-37O(C2H4O)25H, is a nonionic surfactant prepared by condensation reaction of natural fatty alcohol with ethylene oxide. The product appears as a white to light yellow flaky or lumpy solid, with a melting point of 35~40°C and a density of about 1.06 g/cm³. It is readily soluble in water, ethanol, acetone and other organic solvents, but insoluble in petroleum ether. It has strong hydrophilicity, high HLB value (16.0~17.0), cloud point (1% aqueous solution) 91.0~96.0°C, measured cloud point above 100°C, making it an excellent oil-in-water (O/W) type emulsifier.

This product is chemically stable, resistant to acids, alkalis, hard water, and metal salts, and is a low-foaming surfactant. Moisture content ≤1.0%, active matter content ≥99%, free alcohol content ≤1.0%, heavy metal content ≤10 mg/kg, arsenic content ≤2 mg/kg. The kinematic viscosity at 50°C is about 100~130 mm²/s, surface tension of 0.1% aqueous solution is about 32 mN/m (25°C), critical micelle concentration is about 1×10⁻⁵ mol/L. Iodine value ≤2 g I₂/100g, indicating very low unsaturation and good oxidation stability.

Application Recommendations

Based on its high HLB value, excellent emulsifying ability and high cloud point, Peregal O-25 is suitable for the following fields: Used as a leveling agent and soaping agent in textile dyeing and printing, recommended dosage 0.2~1.0 g/L; for industrial and domestic metal degreasing cleaning, can be used with alkaline additives at 50~80°C; as an O/W emulsifying solubilizer in cosmetics and personal care products, recommended dosage 0.5%~5.0%; as a nonionic emulsifying component in pesticide formulations for emulsions and microemulsions; as a wetting and softening agent in paper industry. It is recommended to dissolve by stirring in hot water above 60°C or prepare a stock solution in advance for accurate addition.

Precautions

  • Wear protective gloves and goggles during operation; avoid direct contact with skin and eyes.
  • Store in a cool, dry place at 5°C~40°C, away from strong oxidants and high temperature heat sources.
  • Cloudiness or solidification may occur below 5°C; after returning to room temperature and stirring evenly, it can still be used normally without affecting quality.
  • Do not discharge into water bodies; waste disposal should be handled by qualified units.
  • Please refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for detailed information before use.
