Under normal industrial use conditions, Peretinoin O-25 is a low-toxicity, non-flammable substance, but direct contact can cause skin and eye irritation, and it is harmful to aquatic life with long-lasting effects.

Effects on human health

Peretinoin O-25 (fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene (25) ether) is a non-ionic surfactant. It is not a highly toxic substance and is classified as a non-dangerous good under normal transport conditions. However, direct contact can cause the following health hazards: Skin contact may cause irritation (H315); Eye contact may cause serious eye irritation (H319); Inhalation of its spray or vapor may cause respiratory irritation (H335). Therefore, operators should wear chemical safety goggles, protective gloves, and protective clothing, and ensure good ventilation in the workplace. In case of accidental contact, immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention if symptoms persist. If ingested, do not induce vomiting; rinse the mouth and drink an appropriate amount of water to dilute, and seek medical attention immediately.

Effects on the environment

According to GHS classification, Peretinoin O-25 has clear hazards to the aquatic environment: Acute aquatic toxicity Category 3 (H402) — Harmful to aquatic life; Chronic aquatic toxicity Category 3 (H412) — Harmful to aquatic life with long-lasting effects. This means that once the product enters natural water bodies, it not only immediately harms fish, aquatic invertebrates, etc., but its effects may persist for a long time. Therefore, during production, use, and disposal, the product must be prevented from being discharged into sewers, rivers, lakes, and other water bodies. Waste disposal should be carried out by qualified waste treatment facilities, and incineration is recommended. Unauthorized discharge is strictly prohibited. In case of leakage, dike to contain and collect with inert absorbent materials (such as sand, vermiculite) to prevent spread to the environment.

Note: This product is not classified as a flammable solid or oxidizing substance and should be transported as a general chemical.

Safe handling recommendations

Personal protection: Operators must wear chemical safety goggles, chemical-resistant protective gloves, and protective clothing. The workplace should be equipped with emergency eyewash stations and safety showers. Eating, drinking, or smoking is prohibited during operation. After operation, thoroughly wash hands and any exposed areas.

Storage requirements: Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated warehouse, recommended temperature between 5°C and 40°C, keep containers tightly closed to prevent moisture absorption. Keep away from strong oxidizers, strong acids, strong bases, as well as food, feed, and drinking water sources. The product may become turbid or solidify below 5°C; after warming to room temperature and stirring evenly, it can still be used normally without affecting quality.

Leak and waste disposal: For minor leaks, absorb with inert absorbent material and collect in a closed container; for major leaks, dike to contain to prevent entry into sewers or waterways. Waste disposal must be handled by qualified treatment facilities, incineration is recommended, and discharge into the environment is strictly prohibited.

Precautions

  • Before use, please refer to the complete Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for this product for more comprehensive safety information.
  • This safety information is based on current knowledge and is only applicable for industrial use and specified conditions.
  • This product has good biodegradability, but direct discharge without treatment can still cause short-term and long-term hazards to aquatic ecosystems.
  • In case of fire, suitable extinguishing media are water fog, foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide; avoid using direct water jets. Firefighters must wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing, and collect firefighting wastewater to prevent environmental contamination.
