Rubaling/O-8, also known as emulsifier O-8, is a classic nonionic surfactant. Its full chemical name is Polyoxyethylene (8) C12-14 alkyl ether, and the INCI name is C12-14 Pareth-8. This product is produced by the condensation reaction of C12~14 natural fatty alcohols with approximately 8 ethylene oxide (EO) units, belonging to the fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether (AEO) series.
From a chemical structure perspective, its general molecular formula is C12-14H25-29(OCH2CH2)nOH, where n≈8. The effective active content of the product is not less than 99%, and the free alcohol content is controlled at ≤1.0%, representing a high purity level among similar products. It appears as a milky white to light yellow paste, with a solidification point of about 10~15°C, indicating that it is paste-like at room temperature and can flow with slight heating.
As a nonionic surfactant, Rubaling/O-8 exhibits excellent chemical stability, remaining stable in acids, alkalis, and high-concentration electrolyte salt solutions, with outstanding hard water resistance and no formation of calcium soap precipitates. Its HLB value is approximately 11~12, making it a relatively hydrophilic emulsifier. It disperses in water and easily dissolves in the oil phase, making it particularly suitable as a primary or auxiliary emulsifier for O/W (oil-in-water) emulsions.

Rubaling/O-8, with its high purity (≥99%) and excellent emulsifying, wetting, and dispersing properties, is widely used in the following fields: as a core component of high-temperature scouring agents and detergents in textile printing and dyeing; as a degreasing emulsifier in industrial hard surface cleaning and household liquid detergent formulations; as an efficient emulsifier in pesticide emulsifiable concentrates and aqueous emulsion formulations; as an emulsifying and stabilizing aid in emulsion polymerization systems such as acrylate and styrene-acrylic; and in industrial processes such as paper deinking, leather soaking and degreasing, and metalworking fluids. The recommended dosage depends on the specific system, typically 2%~10% of the total formulation.
