Rubeoling/O-8 is a pasty nonionic surfactant with an HLB value of about 11-12. It is recommended to pre-dissolve it with warm water to form a slurry or pre-disperse it in the oil phase before adding to the formulation. The dosage can be flexibly adjusted between 0.5% and 15% depending on the application scenario.

General Usage Guide

1. Material Pretreatment (Key Step)

Rubeoling/O-8 is a milky white to light yellow paste at room temperature (solidification point about 10~15°C). Direct addition may result in uneven dispersion. It is recommended to pretreat using one of the following methods:

  • Warm Water Dissolution Method: Add the required amount of Rubeoling/O-8 to an equal amount of 40~60°C warm water, stir until a flowing viscous slurry forms, then add to the main reactor or mixing tank. The cloud point of the product in a 1% aqueous solution is 50~70°C. Heating can be applied during dissolution to accelerate the process, but prolonged boiling should be avoided.
  • Oil Phase Dispersion Method: If the formulation contains oil-phase components (such as mineral oil, solvent oil, pesticide active ingredients, etc.), directly add Rubeoling/O-8 to the oil-phase kettle, stir and heat to 40~50°C to melt the paste and uniformly dissolve it in the oil phase, then mix with the water phase for emulsification.
  • Direct Melting Addition Method: Preheat the entire drum of material in a 40~50°C water bath or warm room until it becomes flowable, then weigh and add directly to the preparation kettle. Note that the preheating temperature should not exceed 70°C to avoid prolonged high temperature affecting the product color.

2. Dissolution Behavior Characteristics

Rubeoling/O-8 exhibits "dispersion in water" behavior when dissolved, meaning that nonionic surfactants form a milky white dispersion in water rather than a clear transparent solution. This is normal. It maintains good chemical stability in hard water, acidic/alkaline media, and high-concentration electrolyte salt solutions, without forming calcium soap precipitates.

3. Compatibility with Other Surfactants

This product shows excellent compatibility with anionic surfactants (such as LAS, AES, SDS), cationic surfactants, and amphoteric surfactants, and can be widely used in compound formulations to synergistically enhance emulsification, detergency, and wetting effects.

Usually used together with anionic emulsifiers (such as calcium salts) in a certain ratio. First dissolve the emulsifier in the mixed oil phase containing the active ingredient and solvent, then emulsify with the water phase.
Emulsion Polymerization (Acrylic/Styrene-Acrylic Systems) 1%~3% (Based on total monomer weight) Add during the pre-emulsification stage. Dissolve the emulsifier in water, stir thoroughly, then slowly add monomers for pre-emulsification, effectively controlling latex particle size.

Paper Deinking Agent 0.1%~0.5% (Based on oven-dried pulp weight) Add during pulping or flotation stage, used with chemicals like sodium hydroxide and sodium silicate to promote ink detachment and emulsification dispersion in the pulp.

Key Operational Precautions

  • Personal Protection: Always wear protective gloves, goggles/face shield, and protective clothing during operation (GHS classification: Causes serious eye damage H318, Causes skin irritation H315). Harmful if swallowed (H302). Ensure good ventilation at the workplace. Wash skin thoroughly after handling. Do not eat or drink during work.
  • Environmental Protection: This product is harmful to aquatic life with long-lasting effects (H412). Waste materials should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Do not discharge into drains, surface water, or soil.
  • Storage Management: Seal unused material immediately and store in a cool, dry place (warehouse temperature ≤30°C, relative humidity ≤75%), away from oxidizing agents and strong acids. The product is hygroscopic; use soon after opening.
  • First Aid Measures: In case of eye contact, rinse immediately with plenty of running water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention quickly. For skin contact, wash thoroughly with plenty of soap and water. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting; seek medical attention immediately and show the label or Safety Data Sheet of this product.
